Anyone with the SnugTop XTR camper shell on a 2nd generation tacoma, what is the best cargo box for the two tubular roof rack on the SnugTop? If you have mounted a cargo box on the XTR's tubular roof rack, what make/model did you use and how did you mount it? Thanks in advance.

I've got the xtr, but no cargo box. I have been playing with the best options for cross bars for it to put a basket up top.

I have found that with a little ingenuity, the cross bars from a nissan xterra fit the side rails. Some years of the xterra cross bars are too short and you need to slide the end pieces around to get it to fit (I think '05 and on up), and some are too long and would need to be cut down to length to fit.

They are really easy to install and I've found you can get them pretty cheap on craigslist. I got mine for $45 for the one to play around to see if it would work. They look pretty clean and you can hardly see them from the sides. probably easier to mount a cargo box to cross rails.

^^^ Thank you. I would not have thought of that. Only thing I could find was Yakima round cross bars and Yakima basket. But the whole thing sits kinda high.

Yeah. I was looking at the Yakima and it does start to get taller bit by bit. Then I got stuck behind an xterra in traffic and it just hit me.

@OVERALL How did you mount the end pieces? Did you drill into the XTR Bar to flush it?
