Hey guys. This is my very first post. I'm sure this question has been asked before, just i wasnt sure how to find it without backtracking through tons of pages..

I want to level the front end of my truck, possibly raising the front end slightly above the rear. NOTICE: my truck is.completely stock.

If i get these shocks installed on the front end of my truck, and set them to.1.75, will i need aftermarket parts(coils, etc) for that to be possible? I want to.make sure i DONT need to purchase aftermarket parts for these shocks(and small leveling of the front end) to work.

Again, im pretty new at this, so dont be rude to the noobie lol.

    Thanks for reading.

At 1.75 you should be fine. If you go to 2.5 it Can be a different story.

so, i just went to two local car shops in my hometown to ask if they can install the 2 front 5100 billies.

first shop said they cant install them because i will be ordering them online since nobody in my area(to my knowledge) has them.

the other shop, once he said he had never heard of those types of shocks, said it would cost me roughly 260 bucks(with allignment) to install. After i caught my breath at how ridiculous that price was, i mentioned that id like him to adjust the shocks to 1.75 as well, to level out the front end of my truck. he said he was really confused, and didnt think you can adjust shocks, without coilovers or whatever.

i live in the bay area(concord, bay point area) does anyone know places that could install them?..i asked the shop owners and they had no idea.

i guess not being very handy has some downside..

I would imagine that there are some TW members in your area that would be more than willing to help you intsall them yourself and just get the allignment done at the shop. I would, but I'm a million miles away.

idk if it matters to you, but when i had my truck set at 1.75" and stock rear end, i was sitting nose high/had a bro lean, not sure if you're trying to level it out or what

edit: just read through the whole OP, should do exactly what you want it to haha

    @toy yoda:

im going to try and go with the 5100's set at 1.75 for now, then add an aal, an inch or so, at a later time. im just sick of seeing this rake and cant afford a whole lot at this time. im still getting all the technical terms down, i have alot of ideas in my mind, just cant explain it well. lol.

nice looking truck man! Another question for you, when you added the aal, did you have to throw any aftermarket parts for it to work? or did you just place the aal on. i keep seeing these "aal packs, tsb packs" whats the difference? im searching everywhere and i just cant find the answer.

thanks again for your knowledge, i just very(literally, very) recently wanted to lift my trucks stance, and am extremely confused.

okay so for the TSB, they (toyota) add in another leaf, as in a single leaf, they dont replace the pack. A leaf pack such as the OME dakar's or the all pro expo's replace your stock leaf pack entirely with the after market pack. an aal is again a single leaf that is installed in between your overload leaf (the flat one at the bottom) and the rest of the pack helping the arch of your stock leafs and giving you that extra lift

and for my aal, i already had a 2" block in the rear, with shocks that are designed for ~3" of lift. the set up that i have isnt ideal by any means, ideally you dont want to have blocks at all because it increases the angles of your driveshaft causing vibes and axle wrap, so you want to have just leaves, i plan on swapping my block and aal out for a full leaf pack eventually, just dont have spare cash for it at the moment

depends on how much lift you want, if youre just looking for 1.5-2.5" just go with the aal, if you're looking at like 3" or more, get a full pack

no there's tons of after market aal's, such as toytec or wheelers off road, the TSB (technical service bulletin) is a Toyota "recall" where if your Tacoma is an 08 or newer or has fewer than 36,000 miles and has the factory 3 leaf pack, they add in a 4th leaf for free because the 3 leaf pack is weak

ahhh, finally found the single leaf springs for sale. i need to step my game up apparently i feel like an absolute idiot. lol.

i think i have 1 more question my friend.
. if i added a 1.5 inch aal, i will probably add 5100s as well(at a later date) would i need aftermarket coils, hell, anything aftermarket for that to work?

for 5100's up front at 1.75" you'll be fine with the stock coils. with a 1.5" aal you're gonna want to upgrade your rear shocks because the stock shocks arent designed to be extended like that for long periods of time, and it'll really rough up your ride, so i'd go with 5100's in the rear as well as they are designed to handle a small amount of lift, there are tons of threads on 5100's, a quick search will tell you a lot more than i can, good luck
