I have a new Tacoma with 8000 miles on it and I started noticing a few days ago my truck started making a chattering noise so I took it to the dealer and he said that they think it's a fuel igniter problem They have had 3 others in the past 2 weeks come back with this issue and said for me to start running 93 oct. fuel and start putting a can of sea foam in with it. Has anyone else had this problem ?

Seems to me that if there's an issue, they should fix it instead of prompting you to put seafoam and more expensive gas into it from here out.

So instead of fixing it they want you to pay for extra stuff that may or may not help...? Kinda sketchy if you ask me.

No issue with mine, can you be alittle more specific about it? I have a slight tick comming from my engine bay, but it's supposed to be normal (like the fan or something)

What the hell is a fuel igniter? If the dealer thinks its detonation, then higher octane gas may help. Try 91 octane on your next tank and see if it helps. You may actually get better fuel economy to make up the higher per-gallon cost.

Note valve chatter is normal. If your engine sounds like this (first 18 sec of video), there's nothing to do:

No problems with mine yet. I only have 1,200 miles though.

They said it seems to be only when they are going up hill or put a strain on the engine. I'm not goin to do anything until tomarrow I'm goin back up there to talk to someone else bc that guy seemed like he didn't know what he was talking about I'm sure not goin to start putting sea foam in it

I'm for sure goin to do that They sent the guy who changes oil out to talk to me and try to figure out what the problem was so I'm not even sure if he was a tech or not. But I asked what good was the warranty if I had to pay to get something like that fixed but he had no reply
