Thanks for the link. Some useful info there and I'm getting about the norm from what the search brought up. 19mpg combined.
I'm getting 18.6mpg out of a 730 mile Taco w/V6 auto. Sweet so it should improve after break in but not much which is fine by me.

REpost but from my personal exp:

AC Bypass Mod is the only proven mod that actually saves MPG - drop in AFE is a wash.

MT tires kill mpg. AT tires FTMFW

I have just had my truck for two weeks. First tank was out in Calgary, and on highway to Regina. I got almost 20mpg (us). Last 4 tanks in SK ranging from -12C to -30C, and about 25% city I have been getting around 14.5mpg, and that is completely babying the throttle. Hoping summer improved mileage.

Yikes, wherever you are buying gas at, stop.
Let me know how you make out with higher octane. At the last 3 Shell's I have filled up at (in Regina) were only $1.08/L, and premium was $1.239/L. So at those prices to justify difference in cost, need to improve mileage to 16.5 mpg.

    I get between 27.8 to 29.5 mpg.
I am trying to bust that 30 mark.

This rig is only supposed to get 22 combined. (2wd, 2.7L base)
I guess the only thing I can do now is focus on driving technique.

I burn a top tier fuel from HFN "Hawaii Fuel Network" it is 89 octane non-ethanol in to which I always squirt about 3 oz. of Techron.

I use M1 0-20 and add molybdenum to it. and do 5K OCI and change the sh!t paper in the Frantz every 2500.
I also have stock tires and over inflate by 2 lbs and almost never use the a/c as it is always nice here.

I have a ELM OBDII Bluetooth unit in both my cars and use the Android app "Torque" and use the widgets to display fuel economy.

Gasoline is 4.50/gallon here but it ain't so much about the price as it is a challenge to get better MPG.

I would consider tweaking the O2 feed back to leaner out just a little.

    Bone stock for now....
I can't complain too much with my MPG's on the Tacoma. I consistently get 19ish with a mix of city/highway etc. My wife has a CRV and drives about the same general area as I do and gets barely 24 in her tiny SUV. My previous ride was an Accord V6 and that barely got 20 and before that I had a Ram Hemi and that got 16 MPG.

When I compare my Tacoma to all my other recent rides, 19-20 seems very reasonable. I will say that I was always most impressed with the Ram gas mileage simply because it was a pretty good size V8 in a full size crew cab 4x4 truck and drove that truck very aggressively.......because it ran like a raped ape. So, I felt 16 was quite impressive.

As another reference, we had a Jeep Commander with a 4.7 and that consistently got sub 15's and had a small tank. We also had a Jeep Liberty that barely got 17, which I would consider the shittiest mileage of the whole lot based on the size of the truck and the engine.

Thanks to Summer gas I have been getting between 20-22 mpg (for the last 10 fill-ups. I vary between 70/30 hw/city driving. It's '12 DCLB V6 PreRunner, all stock. On highway I always set the cruise at 73 mph. This avg beats my wife's 2010 RX350 AWD. she only gets about 18-19 mpg on premium but she drives in the city only.

I drive about 70/30 Hwy/City and try to use a light foot on the gas pedal. First 6 months of driving seemed like I couldn't get over 25mpg now it's over 26 regularly.

I live in a metropolis (drive 1/4 mile stop, drive 1/4 mile stop, repeat) and get 16-18 mpg if I never leave town. When I go on trips I get 25-28 mpg.

engines do not like ethanol period. Robs power and lowers MPGs. I lose at least 200 rpms on my big outboard with it. Not just ethanol. It started with the oxegenated gas. Summer blend here is the problem.

Well between summer, and a break in period for my motor, things have gotten better. Between 16-19 mpg (us) with about 20% being city and the rest highway. I set cruise at 110km/h or 68m/h.

I am pretty easy on the throttle, so I don't think that is the issue.
SK is the flattest place on earth, so that is a none issue.
Could be my tires, the OE 265 Rugged Trails, 35lbs. I was running more pressure, but noticed some odd wear, so went back to the 35lbs recommended on sidewall.

I am quite amazed that people are getting 22 on regular gas driving 70m/h.

That 4 banger option is looking a lot more appealing now.

I use mobile 1 synthetic and mainly 89 octane seems that the v6 IMO is smoother than 87 I haven't ran much pure gas..no ethanol ..but I can watch the gas hand dance on the interstate 75-85 mph

I will take $2.85/gal here in California any day. It's currently $3.50 average in central calif. Just came back from Southern calif. and its $3.75 a gal down there so you are doing great with $2.85.
