A Plea For HELP! To Anyone Within A Reasonable Distance Of American Fork Canyon

I don't get on here too often, but I do know that there are a lot of good experienced guys here.
Well I had one of those "Wow, I'm an idiot" moments today and long story short, my 86 4Runner is halfway over the edge of the trail all the way at the top of Mary Ellen Gulch in AF Canyon.
Believe me, I've already realized how dumb/reckless/whatever-other-adjectives-you-want-to-throw-in-here it was, so I'd appreciate everyone skipping the lectures.
But if anyone would be willing to go up and help me attempt to save it, I would GREATLY, SERIOUSLY appreciate it.
And the help of someone with some truly legitimate recovery experience would certainly come in handy because I'll tell you right now it's not gonna be a quick, easy job.
Or to put it another way, I've already accepted the fact that it very well could just go over in the process of trying to recover it.
But I do think it's possible...

Anyway, I didn't have the sense to take a whole bunch of different pictures, but I did get this one.



To give you a little explanation - the picture makes it look milder than it is, of course.
Above the treeline, so nothing to hook to or winch from besides a small boulder which the winch line is attached to. I doubt it's good for much though.
And of course, the winch died as soon as I started trying to spool it in. I reset its breaker and still no-go, so I'm thinking it's a more serious internal issue.
Though, like I said, even if it was working, I don't think it would do me too much good.
Also, there's no way for anything to get around to the front of the truck.

So again, if anyone would be willing to help me out, it would really mean a lot.
And obviously, there would be dinner ...or beer, or whatever in it for you.

Tried contacting a tow company?
Im sure they could get ot out...for a price of course.

Looks pretty gnarly. Don't have much to add but if it were me i would try to anchor the rear to prevent it from rolling? not exactly sure that helps. Anyways, good luck man

Is the truck dead?

Maybe take a picture from the back so we can see the terrain.

 

Im thinking if the truck hasnt rolled over yet yiu could probably drive it out of the situation. Unless its really that much worse than it looks in the picture.

I'm a little confused on how this happened? You get distracted for a sec?

If it were me I'd find a way to anchor a snatch block above the truck and pull the ass end uphill sideways.

Pull pall comes to mind but there are other ways.

 

Appreciate the replies guys, but it really is THAT bad. The picture does it absolutely no justice. Even getting in the truck is pretty much a death wish.
Had a few good guys try to help me out tonight, but we ended up calling it before the lack of light made a bad situation even worse.

 

Theres also a bunch of locals on expo, might check there too. Maybe Kurt from cruiseroutfitters is down to help, he's in Sandy or Jordan IIRC.

Sorry to hear OP & you'll think i'm crazy but if its a manual trans I'd entertain the thought of backing down out of it, its risky but very doable 4lo,reverse, GET FRONT WHEELS STRAIGHT ASAP !!! Now if you did that &are still on all fours , clutch out,4lo ,reverse WHEELS STRAIGHT & heres the kicker... DO NOT USE BRAKES !! I'm very serious about that, you may pick up some speed but as long as front wheels are straight & no brakes are used you can safely get down some insanely steep shit

RESIST the urge to use brakes if you do you WILL get to the bottom the hard way good luck

 

i would be out there with some big flat rocks. boards, max trax, what have you, and pile them up by that passenger side front tire and pull the truck back, get it even remotely level asap. then you should be comfortable to pull it all the way out. also get as many people as you can on that back driver side bumper to try to balance it out. my suggestion.

 

Fletcher hills towing has offroad recovery... starts at $500 if within 50ft of roadway, if your in a mile or so of roadway your looking at $1500 & up

shit is def not cheap..

I would hire a professional tow company and pull from the rear, pulling from the front makes it appear it's going to go over.

Lots o help. If I were you I would just say fuck it and pull from the wheel/axle, whatever you have to do to hook it to the axle/wheel.
