So I bought these TRD FJ wheels on craigslist for very cheap. They are OEM and were originally anthracite grey. The guy decided that he wanted them to be black so he sanded them down and painted them. Unfortunately, the black paint began to flake and I guess he tried to peel it off of one rim. Needless to say they look like shit.

I found a place in town that will strip, prep and powder them for about $95/wheel. Total cost of purchase plus powder is still cheaper than buying a set of replicas.... not bad.

So here is where I am stuck. I am debating on either having them painted back to their original gunmetalish anthracite grey color or going for something custom like bronze. Here are 2 pics for reference...

If I decide to go bronze I prob wont go with that red ring and will try my best to color match the centers.

Here is how my truck sits nowish (missing BHLM, yellow fogs, fox CO's, TC UCA's and sliders. )

I am kind of tired of the black on black look as it is way over done in my area.

What do you guys think? Go back to stock grey or go bronze?

Well... I meant to put an "Other" option on the poll but I cant figure out how to edit it and I accidentally voted bronze. I am not trying to answer my own question haha.

I voted anthracite, but I'm biased because that's what I have. And that guy who sold them is a dick for taking a set of hard to get rims and fucking them up.

Bronze on a black truck for me. Although I don't think you could go wrong with either.

I voted bronze, I have a friend with a black Subaru STI with the stock gold wheels. Looks really good IMO. Since I have a silver truck, I am slowly blacking it out but in your case bronze would be sharp looking and pretty unique I think.

Agreed, He could have sold them for more and just bought a set of black replicas....

That is a cool idea. I will have to look into building a set of those centers if they will fit these wheels and still look decent.

Not really, I am getting away from the black on black and either going with gunmetal or bronze.

Well shit you better post up some pics if you get it done before me! It will prob take me a month or 2 to get them finished.

Bronze, but no red ring. Red with bronze looks like shit to me.

Is black out of the question? I think they look sick when coated flat black.

Yeah I think I am going to avoid black. I too agree it would look sick but there is so much black on black on the streets. I want a little bit different look. I rarely see gunmetal wheels around here they are aaaallll black.
