Just picked up an 03 tacoma 4x4 with the standard 5spd trans and only 38k miles.

Since i picked it up ive started slowly going through the checklist of maintenance. Replaced the timing belt, water pump & thermostat, idler bearings, tensioner and all 3 accessory belts. Ive also began flushing all the fluids.. coolant, front diff, transfer case, standard transmission etc. The truck runs great and i couldnt be happier with it!

I Paid $13,800. Probably a bit high, but these trucks are getting harder to come by in this specific configuration with low miles. So i had to jump on it! :D

Not high at all in my opinion! I paid $12,000 for mine at 118,000 miles.

Nice! Beautiful truck, and you're gonna love that Lunar Mist color. I have to wash mine about every three months or it starts showing dirt. ;)

Thanks guys.. Im pretty excited to get it out in the wilderness some more! I transferred my 285 75R 16 BFG's from my old tacoma to this one and i've got some tire rub goin on. I think I may bite the bullet and go with some KING suspension all the way around. Id like to get a bit more useable ground clearance without installing a 15" body lift :p

My girlfriend is jealous, she thinks 2k for some "cylinders" as she calls them, is just too much for truck suspension. She keeps cleverly pointing out that 2k is allllmost enough for a suitable engagement ring. They just dont understand. :D

my thoughts exactly. fluid flushes? belt replacements? you basically have a brand new 1st gen. you won't need to do anything big for another 40k

I replaced all of that stuff because of the age of the truck, not mileage. Rubber components break down far quicker in the summer heat of phoenix.. And all of the fluids were more just for piece of mind. You guys have a valid point though. I will say this, every part I have pulled off the truck has been in perfect shape. All the fluids looked new as well.:notsure:

That is exactly what you should do.. Years can be just as bad if not worse that miles. Gaskets seals and belts will get had and crack from lack of use. I see it all the time in my business...

Beautiful truck and a great find. I have an 01 with 120K that looks just like this except I have the alloy wheel and a 4 cylinder. Lunar mist is an awesome color. I hope they bring it back someday. Smart move to replace all that stuff especially the timing belt. Talked to a guy with a 93 with 270K. He says the only enemy these truck have are owner neglect and rust.

Sweet find! And yes I'd probably do what you did even living here in New England, much less in the year round heat like yourself. Don't get me wrong I wish I didn't have cold winters here :)

It's not as impressive, but I picked up my 2010 with only 6500 miles last October.
