Hi guys, new to the forum and have been searching around for this same topic, so thanks for all of the great info. My situation is slightly different. I am going from a Tundra to a Taco and am going to install a 3" lift on the taco with TRD 16X8 wheels. What are the largest A/Ts I can run? I don't mind trimming a little bit. In the past I have even used a heat gun to melt the plastic in the fender well to "bend" the plastic that is rubbing to make room for the rubbing tire(s). Anyway, will the 285/75-16s fit with the lift? What are your recommendations for a good A/T?
    Any help is GREATLY appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Ken

Do you know what the offset/bakspacing is on those wheels? That will determine if you can run 285/75r16 and clear the UCA, any rubbing on plastic is easily taken care of with minor trimming, or like you said re-shaping the wheel well liner with heat, there is a chance the tire will rub on the body mount depending on wheel specs, your lift set up, alignment ect. Look up cab mount chop (CMC) if you want more info on it.

Hey Penz, thanks for the quick reply. The wheels are 16x8 and have a +1 offset.
    Thanks again,
    Ken

You should clear the upper control arm with +1 offset. Depending on alignment and a few other factors cab mount chop is a maybe. The least you would have to do is remove the mudflaps and trim some plastic

Thanks Evan. I don't mind a removing/reshaping a little plastic or taking off the mudflaps so now I need to start looking for some good A/Ts. I always like the BF Goodrich Radial ATs, but boycotted them because they were made by the frogs:mad:. I actually had some Cooper (Zeons, I think) on my Tundra and they were great tires. I want to find something like the BFG TKOs.
    Thanks again for the info.

Thats all the easy trimming, but make sure you look into the cab mount chop (CMC, its the body mount that extends from the frame at the back of the wheel well) because thats the one most people want to avoid, with 285s there is chance your tire will rub there.
General grabbers are almost the same tread pattern as BFG ATs, and i have heard good things about them. I have goodyear duratracs and would recommend them to anyone looking for a aggressive all terrain

Gotcha. I will do my homework on the CMC and clearance issues and will check out the Generals and Goodyears. I ran Goodyear Wrangler A/Ts on a 4Runner a long time ago and had good luck with them.
    Thanks again,
    Ken

OK, one last question: It turns out the lift I ordered is 3" in the front and 2" in the rear. Does that make any difference on tire size compared to 2" on the front?
    Thanks again,
    Ken
