Hey fellas, apologies for starting a thread but havent been able to find an answer anywhere else

Id like to install an aux cable to my stock stereo so i can plug my iphone into via headphone port on phone....

anyone have any suggestions or sources where i might see this done already to the stock '04 stereo ? Id rather not use a cassette tape adapter (with the cord sticking out)

you can use the rca in hookups on the back of the stereo if it has them, otherwise you are limited to the tape adapter or upgrading to a new stereo.

Is there any way to tell if the stereo has them without removing it to look?

Not really, pretty easy to get stereo in and out. Mine takes about ten minutes.

    It goes something like this.
Pull off your heater/ac knobs, pop the plate behind them off. Two screws near there, one behind the ash tray (that one is easy to miss). Pull that bad boy out.

I can tell you now that (if you have an 04 like your profile says) you don't have many options. I've read somewhere there's an adapter that can be plugged into the CD changer port that will end in a 3.5mm AUX cord, but it's just as expensive as getting an aftermarket head unit.

If you have the stereo out already, just go to walmart or best buy or somehting and pick up a cheap head unit. Mine was 60 bucks for the head unit, install kit, and wiring. They're not hard to install and you get all kinds of new features, like an AUX port!

yes, it's just like playing through a 3.5 headphone jack.
