Looking into getting some HID's soon. Question is what temp to get and why? I have a poll up to see what most are going with. I like the idea of a pure white in the 5000k and don't mind a slight blue tint with the 6000k. I guess the real question is what is better for seeing at night?

5000k gives the most usable light output and is closest to sunlight. 6000k looks cooler. I went with 6000k with my last car, but 5000k with my current Subaru. Factory HIDs are typically 5000k.

4300k is the best lumen output color temp and the most natural light.
5000k is my preferred color for looks while still maintaining good performance.
6000k the light output honestly starts falling off here. Sure, if you are into the whole "blue light special" thing they fit that bill, but lumen output is meh

From the way it sounds already I would be better off just going with the 5000k. Not really into the blue thing although it does look cool. I would rather something that will work better.

From what I read here, HIDs beam pattern in stock headlight housing is disappointing. May want to look into eBay halo projector headlights or better yet (but more work) retrofit projectors in existing housings. Note both options may require a different bulb size than stock.

4300-5000k. Doing a retrofit is the best way to go and will yield the best results. Dropping them in halogen headlights tends to give a lot of glare despite what those who have done it would like to to believe. eBay projectors don't have the greatest light output as is before introducing HiDs to them. They also consist of halogen projectors not HID projectors so they tend to scatter light from HIDs as well.

My 5000k is plenty blue for me. I've had all three different colors and am very happy with 5000

Depending on manufacturer colors can slightly vary from what they should be too. When I ran kits in the past I originally had 4300k and swapped those out for 5000k and there was barely any difference in color. Close enough that had someone swapped them without me knowing I probably wouldn't have ever noticed.

From what I am reading 4300k and 5000k are the best for actual light output. Looks like my mind is made up already and will be going with the 5000k.

The 6k doesn't look bad but pretty sure my choice will be the 5k.

I have 6000k in my audi, its a crisp white light, I run 3000k in my fog lights on it because of the high contrast the yellow gives. The question is where you are going to drive. around cities I would go 6000k cause it gives very accuate color refection, out side town more, the 5000k will give more lumens and slightly better contrast to see things at the edge of the road. In my scooter I run 2500k but 100w because I want to be seen and noticed.

I once saw a car with 12000k HIDs, I am sure that those are great for visibility.

Edit: Perhaps they were 30000k, they were purple!

I had a buddy of mine get 8000k, I warned him not to go above 6000k se he'd have at least some usable light. Now he regrets it and actually bought cheap walmart off road lights just so he can see at night.

You detect a hint of blue with 5000ÂşK lights, it will be perfect.

I had 6000 (mispackaged and sent to me) for like a day, and quickly swapped them to 5000. The object of lights is to light up things... As you go above 5000ÂşK the light output DROPS.

I posted many photos showing the lights, the color, etc. 4300, 5000, 6000... I like 5000 the best.
