    MacRumors states that 8 is about as high as you can go, with some work to the ram i think you would have to do 2x4GB sticks.

    I got $600 for my late 2008 MBP in Feb so you should get at least that. I'd suggest doing a fresh OS install with OSX 10.8 and remove the sticker. Also give the specs in your CL ad. Marketing is key!
