01Tac0ma SAS build..

Finally motivated to get going with it and picked everything from the TG kit C up for a decent price & actually ended up with basically the rear lift setup as well.. Rear crossmember an shock relocation, front 4" leaf springs, 2 random set of leaf springs, shackles, spring hangers front and rear etc.. All the goodies!! Few pics of the haul and ill update as I get started cutting and building and eventually linking, coilovers, re-gear etc




Will probably get started within the next month after I get everything laid and and setup to be out on.

Price breakdown

TG SAS Kit C + rear hangers, shocks, ubolt flip - $2500 + $50 for gas
- Additional items to complete kit
- Pwr steering hose conversion - $90
- Radiator - $80
- FJ80 Tie Rods - $100

Ubolt flip kit - $50
Marlin Knuckle ball gusset kit - $80
Knuckle service kit - $150
Front Diff w 4:88, Rustys ring and pinion (craigslist) - $250
Pwr steering fluid, Brake fluid, Gear oil, axle Grease, Brake clean, Oil change... (after diff break in this will change due to pricier gear oil throughout the drivetrain) - $100
Rear re gear - TBD
Misc. items - $200

Labor - TIME but FREE

Total - $3700

Re gear for rear im sure will be another $400
Ifs stuff will recoupe a decent amount.

You mention linking, however you say you're using leaf springs?

Gonna link it eventually.. As cheap as I got it an I wasn't even really ready to do it but knew I couldn't pass it up ill go leafs for now.. It's Already setup for leafs and everything is new plus it has 4:10's so it will match my rear and I can keep my current tires till I'm ready for 37's, links, gears, lockers etc. ill beat the shit out of the leaf setup then when I'm tired of it ill swap it out! Plus the guy threw in all kind of extra stuff I wasn't expecting so I may as well use it and by the time I sell off all my factory ifs stuff I come out under $1,750 for front and rear setup! No complaints with leafs for that

 

Shit, gotta build your sliders and a few other sets and sets of tube doors before I can even start on my junk haha but ill get there eventually,, gone too far at this point lol

 

Sweet! I was confused is all. I like leaf springs, been running them for 3 years and will continue to probably for at least another year or 2. Leafs will be in the rear for many years...

I agree and honestly following all your progress and the shit you out your truck through with leafs I figured it'd be fine for a little while till I save up all the parts for everything else.. How's the full hydro setup treatin you as of now? Looking into it but want to dd it still

 

I love the full hydro. It has it's downfalls though. I'd just look into the hydro assist. I really opted for the full hydro because my current set-up was FUBAR'd and I didn't want to pay almost equivalent money to the full hydro.

Really the only downfalls of my system is that the steering wheel has infinite turns (cannot have clockspring). It has really weird steering response when cornering hard as well.. Mainly because it only has 1 1/8" turns to full lock... Where most steering has twice that or more. Thus, by making it weird I think it's just super responsive?

 

Yea I've thought about just hydro assist but I guess ill find out once I throw everything under there and get it all together.

 

Full hydro is really "overkill" for anything less than 39's and a dana 44... not to mention especially overkill for a mini axle.

 

Yea I don't plan on going that big anytime soon.. 37's at most.. Ill roll with everything I have till I decide I need to change it or I break

Howabout you STFU! & come buy a rear bumper and my skid! then I can get going, I told you im waiting to get the crawl box at minimum first so I don't have to do driveshafts twice.. Plus im still shopping for tires too

It will get there, id rather just take my time and do it right the way I want ultimately the first time rather than doing it then cutting apart later

 

So what you're saying is this isn't really a SAC thread then. Its a I am collecting parts and may someday perform a SAC.

Because I see nothing resembling a solid axle conversion going on in here.
