Guys I thought I had a blown muffler only to find a couple of hairline cracks in the exhaust manifold. Anybody ever replaced theirs? I ordered a used one off of eBay that only has 12,000 miles on it so should be safe. Where would I get the replacement nuts for the bolts? Dealer? I've read that you are not supposed to reuse them? Is that true? Any ideas/help would be appreciated. Thanks all. ;)

BUMP Anybody? The one I got off of eBay was for a 2.4 that I assume the junk yard didn't realize is different than what goes on a 2.7. Cheapest one I can find from the dealer is $181 plus shipping and who's knows how long a new one would last anyway. Anybody else had this problem? Thanks guys.

    I recommend getting a 1995-2004 3RZ FE LCE header. :)
    These never go bad.

Thanks for the suggestion. Where do you get these from? How much are they? From the pic it doesn't like it bolts up to the existing lead off pipe. Are there modifications required? Thanks again.

Found the link. Sorry. Wow! $400. A bit rich for my son for sure. Toyota wants $180 on the internet for a new one so I better go that route if I can't find a decent used one. Thanks again though for the suggestion.

    No problem, d... :)
LCE makes top notch stuff and quality always comes at a price. I ran their header on my 1995 2.4 for a decade and it still looks almost like it did the day I installed it. (picture is after 10 years)

Their header eliminates the down pipe between the stock header and the catalytic converter. You can see the o2 bung at the collector in their header picture. It also connects up to the stock smog EGR pipe.

The 01+ or maybe 02+ ditched the manifold for a header style exhaust.

Hit up some yards for 4cyl 01+ 4runner/tacoma. Probably get one cheapest and it wont crack again like a manifold

Well just decided to order the OEM Toyota manifold and hope that it doesn't crack again. Less than $200 shipped. Got 167,000 miles out of the one on it so here's to hoping. Anything in particular I need to be aware of when replacing it? Any special type of stuff on the studs at the head or lead-off pipe? Anything on the manifold gasket at the head or just slip it in and tightened it up? Don't have a torque wrench so am assuming that a cross pattern of equal tightening until snug then a decent tightening ought to do it? Any suggestions are always appreciated. Thanks guys.

Found torque specs if anybody ever needs them. 46 ft/lbs at head and 36 at leadoff. Now here's to hoping the nuts give up after 167,000 miles on them.
