2005-2011 Seat belt recall

I guess I should be glad Toyota is addressing all these problems, but damn, there sure seem to be a lot of them.

 

"A lot of them"? I think this is the first "safety" recall on my '11.
I could be wrong.

 

Sounds like something that can be fixed without going to the dealership.

10 minutes and some Loctite.

 

I should have said "including TSBs". It's at least the third safety recall I can think of off the top of my head including the gas pedal (a non-issue if you aren't an idiot who installs floor mats without checking clearance) and the spiral cable. There are a slew of TSBs for everything from the windshield whistling, clutch squeaking/sticking, throw out bearings, wheel bearings, driveline vibration, stereo system problems, water leaks, the three leaf rear springs, blower motors squeaking/failing, daytime running light issues, etc.

It's just frustrating that the truck has more than doubled in costs over the earlier Japanese versions and it has more issues. Toyota can still build an excellent vehicle but apparently not in America; note that the Land Cruisers are still built in Japan and they have fewer issues. I've been driving Toyotas for close to thirty years and will continue to do so, but there has definitely been a shift in build quality as they rushed to be the number one auto maker. It's not just Toyota though, you see it across the board in almost all of the manufacturer's offerings.
