    im willing to bet its NOT an alternator. the truck would quit running if the alternator was going bad.

    Not entirely true. The alternator went out on my dads 02 with the 3.4 about a month or so ago with 342000 miles on it. He drove it about 7 miles without the alternator producing voltage. The truck would not get over about 35mph and was really weak. The battery was pulling the electronics.

    Exactly what happened to me. Had I known better, I would have turned off the stereo and could have gotten farther...but nooooo...I just bumped on down the freeway until it all just faded out.
