Stock Steel Wheel Makeover

I just completed a total makeover of my stock silver steelswheels. I had a friend powder coat thewheels satin black. I painted the centercaps to match the magnetic metallic gray color of my Tacoma and finished themoff with a TRD badge.

I also upgraded the OEM Dunlop tires to Yokohama GeolanderA/T’s.

My 2012 Tacoma also has a TRD C.A.I and TRD Full FlowExhauxt.

Love my Tacoma.

Nice, I plasti dip mine to see how they look befofe I get them powder coated. I love how it looks so it will be done next spring.

 

how do you like those tires? i think im torn between those and Dest A/Ts

Wheels look awesome man! Did mine with spray paint a few months ago and haven't even had to touch them up yet.

Awesome! I did mine about 4 months ago, but rattle canned them. Still holding up.

 

You will definitely want to power coat rather than paint. If you know someone who is good at it, it will lay on much nicer and is MUCH tougher than paint. There are a lot of options not just in color, but the finish look. Powder coating can be done with a flat, satin or gloss finish. Mine are satin.

I am a big fan of Yokohama's. I been running them for a few years now on all my vehicles. Cars and trucks. I used to run all B.F. Goodrich. (still a good tire).
MY previous truck had the Yoko H/T-S'. They just came out with this little more aggressive A/T-S. I really like the ride so far. Still quiet with no road hummmm. Definentaly will keep them rotated.
Haven't tried them in the yet. I think they should be fine.

 

The cost is more in the cleaning and proper prep work. My wheels were still pretty clean and rust free having only been through one winter.
A friend of mine gave me a pretty good deal at $350 for all four wheels. Good luck finding that.
