My Taco is only 2 months old and I did drive multiple new trucks, including the Chevy and Ford. The Ford was the only one that was in the running with the Taco. After researching, the Taco won. Better reliability and resale and COST LESS than the other guys. Easy choice......

Best of luck with your new truck...

Yeah I went through a 00 Sierra, and 05 Silverado both Z's. Nothing but problems. I love the full size feel. I do miss the power and room. But next full size I get, will be a Tundra. :p

Good luck getting close to what you paid for it trade in value with the Chevy.

Just bought my tacoma and it has the same....if not more bells and whistles than you mentioned but to each his own.

Good luck with the new truck and if you ever change your mind you are welcome back to the Taco Club.

It reminds me of a guy I worked with a few years ago. I bought a new 2006 Civic Si, and he bought a 2007 Civic base model. He hated his car and I couldn't imagine why, because I loved mine, it hauled ass. I got in his car to go somewhere one day and I was amazed at how wimpy and featureless the base model was. I would never buy a base model anything based on this experience...

OP you should have got a more loaded up model, not that lil 4banger!

If you think these are "bells and whistles", go test drive a Lexus LX570.

Good luck with your purchase. It's a first-year model after redesign and a Chevy at that. I hope all the interior features remain working after the warranty is up.

Seriously, why is it when these kind of posts come up, 90% of the responses are moronic, stupid and idiotic at best. Why can't everyone just wish the OP good luck, maybe ask him to share some pics of his new ride, instead of spewing Toyota fanboy BS. I get it, it's a Toyota Tacoma forum, so it's expected in doses, but the Tacoma has been around 9 years now and other platforms have improved significantly. You want a fully loaded decked out luxurious truck, sorry, you can't get that on a Tacoma; you have to look somewhere else. Sounds like that's what the OP wanted. Many of us that have had our trucks going on 6 years or more may be we're looking to move on to something else; maybe our needs have changed. You guys are no better than the morons over on the Big-3 sites who call you unpatriotic for driving a foreign car. You all act like it's as if the OP is buying a car of his choice with your money.

This site used to be awesome with most, if not all members who liked Toyota's, but also automobiles in general. Now it seems this site is overrun with a bunch of new car drivers/owners who know nothing about cars other than the Tacoma. I'm figuring most Tacoma owners are in the early to mid 20's and the immaturity of the responses that overwhelm this place seem to prove that.

Off my soapbox and back to lurking....

I thought about it then test drove a Tundra and was sold on that.

The reason the new DI Silverados get "good" fuel economy is because the 5.3L is a freaking DOG in my opinion, rear axle ratio is probably the biggest reason for being a dog.

All in all though I do like what they did with the redesign. Interior is super nice, yes they made some awesome engine improvements ie DI, cast aluminum block. I think they should look into OHC set-up instead of the pushrod set-up.

All in all, I can see why you chose the truck and best of luck with the new truck!!

Our opinions mean nothing, you bought it, you like it and thats all that matters!

I've been looking at the new Silverado too. Yeah, I was shocked at the standard 3.08 gear ratio on the GM and it did feel sluggish, but more people seem to want better MPGs in trucks these days including myself. If Toyota would offer a different gear ratio io the Tundra, I would consider it, but it's only the 4.10. I wish they offered a 3.42 or a 3.73.

Been following the Long Term Drive segment on the 14 Silverado on Edmunds, they're only averaging 14 MPGs with the 5.3 with 3.42 gears. Not good; especially with the lack of oomph the 5.3 demonstrated. Interested to see what the redesigned F-150 brings to the table; especially with the issues the Ecoboost has been having lately. The 14 Tundra might be able to steal away some buyers if it can be had for the right price.

Seriously why these posts come up at all is beyond me. Most (not all) are started with the intent of how much better the new vehicle is than the Tacoma. While I will concede the Tacoma is growing a little long in the tooth and is due a update you must remember this is a Tacoma site. There is bound to be some ribbing and yes there are plenty of fanboys around.
I don't give 2 shits if someone buys something else. It's their money and freedom of choice. But when you post something like this expect to get a LOT of dissenting opinions. I posted a picture of my old POS Chevy that got bought back by the dealer due to the same recurring problem. Hopefully the OP doesn't have a similar issue but... I'm sorry, I still think Toyota makes the best, most reliable, best resale value, trucks on the market.

If it bothers you so much... stop reading these "I traded the Tacoma" posts.

*EDIT* On a side note. My wife, daughter, and I go to Colorado Springs every spring and start our cross state trip from there. When I retire (or win the lottery) that is where we will move.
