I am looking to darken up my windows but don't know what a good level would be. Any suggestions? I live in Florida and the legal limits are 28% for the driver and passenger side windows and 15% for the rear windows. Thats where my windows are now but it just doesn't cut it for me. How much darker should I go?

The rears look pretty light. Don't blame me if you get a ticket, but IMO as long as the fronts are lighter than the rear you might get away with it. Just keep that difference in level.

I got 5% for the rears but unfortunately I'm in CA and not tint is allowed up front so I do a 45% so I don't attract attention and that combo seems to work really well for me.

Ok thanks for the help. I am thinking about 15% all around and 50% on the windshield. The cops down here don't pay attention to the levels unless they are just a gross violation.

I have 5% up front and 5% over the factory tint for the rear. I like how dark it is but it kinda sucks at night if you're backing out and can't see much.

I have the stock tint on the read door windows and 15% on the front door windows with 15% on the very back as well.

I added 20% on the two front windows. I'm thinking about going back with 20-25% on the rears to darken it up a little more. I'm not touching the front window.

anders, i am in a similar boat, I want to add a light tint to the front but on the back (factory tinted) only make it harder to see in. any recomendations. been thinking a mirror tint over factory, wouldnt be so bling cuz of the existing but could help with privacy. front I think I will go with 50% I dont need to be harassed by over zealous local or state cops and just want a little eye easing.

I went 20% all around.. and i like the look.. IMO 5% is asking for trouble.. But to each their own

Don't go 5% - YOU WILL REGRET IT
I had it on my 00' Explorer and couldn't see shit out of it at dawn, dusk and night - it felt/and was really dangerous.

I know this isn't a 2nd gen but hopefully it will give you a good idea on what to expect with matching and the windshield light :)

This was taken approximately the same time of day in the exact same position before/after the 20% tint was put on to match the rear factory tint. Here are the photos:

Okay maybe it's not fair since I washed the truck for the after shots, but you get the idea

Thanks for the heads up. The place where I am going to get it done does 15% around and they will not go darker than that they said.
