Help a tech-challenged taco lover if you can. I'm tired of flash drives, ipods, discs etc. for media storage in my 04 Taco. Is there a head unit that actually stores the media?

I believe my buddy said his pioneer navigation hu has like 10gb of storage.

If it does most other brands probably do the same as well.

They don't make them anymore but I know of two head units that have an internal hard drive. You might be able to find a refurbished or used one out there. There could be other HUs out there with hard drives, I just don't know about them. The Pioneer AVIC Z1 has 10gb for music and the Alpine HDA-5460 has 16gb.

A lot of people buy an iPod and route the cable from the back of their HU to their glovebox. And then just leave the iPod in the glovebox all the time. Its the next closest thing to having a hard drive built into the HU.

None yet, starting over!! OME lift w/ Dakars & 885's Remote Start w/ window control
    Kenwood Music Keg

It was a pain in the ass though. Flash drive with cable ran to glove box works better though (and cheaper than iPod)

I really love the Amazon Cloud Music Player.

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/dmusic/marketing/CloudPlayerLaunchPage

They have both an IOS and Android app and it works over a BlueTooth connection. I'd rather spend a little to keep my music with Amazon than spend that money on internal storage that I have to maintain.

If you don't use a Android or IOS however, then you're probably better off with the internal storage.

I'm assuming you don't like the clutter and hassle that comes with flash drives sticking out, ipod/iphone cables, loose CDs, CD wallets, etc.

I use a small 32gb flash drive in my hatchback.

In my coupe I used this:

They're both very non intrusive compared to the regular size flash drives that stick out like an erection. You can just leave them plugged in, even if you remove the faceplate and put it in a storage case.
