*EDIT* Identify Spoiler Alert please for those that haven't had a chance to play it yet.

So by now many of you know that I am a nerd when it comes to video games. I have played since the Atari 2600 and I still remember fondly going to an actual "Arcade" when I was a kid.

I picked up "The Last of Us" for the PS3 and I have to say that it ranks up there with the top 5 games that I have ever had the pleasure of playing. For anyone that owns a PS3 you Owe it to yourself to play this game. I will concede that it is not for everyone but it is a remarkably brutal story that is told in a way that only a game could convey. The opening 15 mins of the game set the tone for what is to follow. It doesn't get any less unsettling as you progress through the story line.

As the era of the PS3 draws to a close this is a must own title that has very few equals within the industry. Naughtydog... You are to be commended for a exceptional piece of media!

*Spoiler* First chapter of the game. Do not watch if you intend on buying or playing this exceptional game.

Played it. Beaten it. I payed full price for this game and I still felt like I stole it from them it was so damn good. Worth every penny and then some. If you play and don't like this game, you have no soul.

Ranks up there with Resident Evil 4 and Mass Effect Trilogy as one of the best games ever made.

I couldn't agree more my friend.

On a aside: I was pretty impressed with Bioware for making the ending "better" for ME3. They listened to their fan base and made the correct changes. I read an article the other day that they may even change the ending completely as another free DLC.

I'm going to pick that up soon. Also have Diablo 3 on pre order for next Tues. I've had it on the PC since launch a year and a half ago but this may be one of the titles that actually plays better on a console.

pre-ordered this game. played it and beat it. It was a 98%love/2%hate for me.

loved every minute of gameplay and how it wrapped in with the characters, loved the idea of how Joels character did a 180 towards the end and how ellie was such a smartass!

The only thing i disliked about the game was 1. that you got the automatic rifle so late in the game and 2. that it ended. seriously im thinking about starting over from the beginning....again lol

My only issue with this game is your companions sometimes stand in the open and the AI ignores them. Nit picking I know but it breaks the immersion in a otherwise exceptional experience. And I couldn't agree with you more. I didn't want it to end.

On a side note: Let's not give away any spoilers in case someone want's to play.

very true, id hate to ruin the experience! anyone that hasnt bought this gaming needs to. by far the game of the year in my opinion..

but i completely agree about how the AI ignores whoever is with you..i found myself multiple times shh'ing or yelling at my companions only to find out they was no reaction to what they do. lol

Game of the year? Yes most definitely. Maybe even game of the entire console run.
Mass Effect came out late to the PS3 and we missed the first chapter (game) since it was a PC / Xbox exclusive. I owned all three on PC so it wasn't a issue. The Uncharted series was excellent also (Naughty Dog again) but they out did themselves on this game.
Very rarely do I find myself immersed in a game anymore but this was one of those few times that I couldn't wait to see what was next.

This is what I'm waiting on. If you notice the guy that comes in with the drone to tag the enemy is playing on a tablet while the other players are in the actual game. By the way the speaking in the game is the actual players playing.

I know for sure Xbox 1 / PS4 and I believe Xbox 360 / PS3. It's all open world RPG with other players that can attack at anytime along with the in game NPC's. I like the tactical nature of the game. I'm still trying to figure out how they integrate tablet use in it but I do know it is there which is a hell of a feature.

Atari 2600 ha. My favorite on that was River Raid. Have been an Xbox guy ever since the original came out. I traded my 360 in for a PS3 to play the Naughty Dog Games. They were cool but i absolutley fucking hate the controller. Reserved the xobx one. It all looks sick

Yeah... I agree that the PS3 controllers aren't as good as the 360 controllers but I have modified mine with "Control Freek" extensions and R2-L2 extensions for trigger firing so they are better and more natural feeling than the 360 controllers.

After all the shit that Microsoft pulled at E3 I'm fucking done with them. I realize the went back on all the DRM bullshit but fuckem. Who's to say that they won't try to reinstate it at a later date. The ONLY reason the changed was because their stock prices fell and Sony kicked the living shit out of there ass at E3.

I agree... In fact almost every launch title for the PS4 is also a PS3 title. I'm not going to buy one until "The Division" and "Destiny" comes out. I can wait until then. Besides Diablo will tide me over for quite sometime. And DC Universe Online is FTP on PS and it actually is kind of fun.
