Well, the titles a bit misleading. I know that it's shot. The real question is, what should I do about it???

This is a 2000 tacoma Prerunner. Non-TRD, no locker. 2.7l engine. I bought it at 94k miles in 2007. The trucks now at 164k miles and I haven't done any major work on it besides regular maintenance: oil changes, spark plugs, topping fluids, tires, brakes, etc. Anyways, the trucks now gone 164k miles on the same factory shocks and springs and it's starting to show. I got a camper shell not too long ago and it's really seemed to weight it down.

So the question is, do I drop money on all new shocks, struts, and springs? This is just my DD. It spends 95% of its time on the road. I'll head out to gilroy or pismo maybe once a year, and without a locker or 4wd you can believe the shovel gets plenty of use. So what kind of suspension would you suggest? I don't really need a 3" lift as it's a commuter and I don't plan on running larger than 31"s. I know people like the 5100s and OME or eibach springs, but are there alternatives? I know rockauto sells pre assembled strut/spring sets. Ranchos, Moogs, or Monroes any good?

I'm sort of in the same boat.I'm thinking about some Monroe shocks with an AAL for the rear..Mine sags a little with my top and the fact that the springs are 11 yrs. old.I don't really want to dump loads of money into 5100's for my daily driver that sees 90% road..

Clown Baby, (I hope your name is in reference to It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia)

I would suggest an add-a-leaf for the rear springs and new shocks all around. I went with the Bilstein 5100's and couldn't be happier. They have 3 settings so you can set your front height by moving the snap ring where the coil spring sits.

This will be the cheapest/simplest option for you.

Im in the same boat as well. My 98 is about to hit 200K and I believe the suspension is 100% original. I'm holding out cause I don't wanna spend the money!

Will an AAL salvage my springs? Or should I just go to a junkyard and look for another pack?
