Hello everyone. Just wanted to check in. I just bought my first Tacoma, and my first new vehicle (other than motorcycles). I have been a die hard Subaru fan for years, owning three Subaru Outbacks over the years, and I've been a Moderator over at SubaruOutback.org for the past seven years. I started working in the oil fields of ND two and a half years ago and realized the Outback's ground clearance just wouldn't cut it in the deep snow and mud I was encountering. I ended up buying 2004 GMC Sierra 2500HD with the Duramax, looking for a good compliment to the Outback. The GMC had gobs of power and plenty of room, but I only averaged 15 MPG, and was starting to get worried about the high cost of repairing it should something go wrong (luckily I unloaded it before anything did).

My Subaru was pretty much adopted by my dad's girlfriend who needed reliable transportation, so I was back to being a one vehicle household. I always told myself that if I had to have one vehicle a Double Cab Tacoma would pretty much be the perfect fit. I've also been enamored with the Raptors since they came out. So when I saw the Bajas it was love at first site. I needed something that would have lower fuel costs than my diesel, and could bomb down the endless tractor trailer beaten dirt roads of the oil field without beating me to death, so the Baja seems like it fit the bill perfectly.

I look forward to exploring the community. I've long since learned the power of these forums for getting people together and sharing information, so I look forward to it.

It is pretty well optioned out with the Nav/Entune system and the JBL stereo. I am pretty sure just about all the boxes were checked on this one. I managed to get the dealer down $2,200 off the sticker price of $39,525, and got them to give me $17,300 in trade on the Duramax (I might have gotten $20,000 in a private party sale if I'd really taken my time). So all in all I was happy with the deal. Managed to get financing for ~2%, so that went well too.

Yeah, my dealer had three of these things, two red, and one black. I drive pretty fast, so I was afraid the red would be a ticket magnet, so I was pretty much sold on the black one I test drove. The the sales guy came bombing up in this white one, and I said, "SOLD!"

Took the Taco out on its maiden dirt voyage today in the foothills above Boise. Managed to get all the way up 8th Street, which has some steep rutted rocky sections near the top, and all the way across the Ridge road to the Bogus Basin Ski area without having to put it in 4WD. It definitely bombs through the rough stuff with ease.

Sexy truck man. I was close to a white one, but I had another dealer offer me black with the JBL/Entune for less than the white. I think the white is just awesome though.

Ridiculous isn't it? But it was my way of getting a warrantied ready to go out of the box solution to my problems. I love modding and tinkering, I was a broke college student for 10 years, and doing stuff myself was the only way to get what I wanted. Now my business is dependent on me getting where I need to go reliably, and the Baja looks like it will fit the bill quite nicely.

Thats why I'm happy with my TX, got it for low dough and added wha i wanted for increased capability . I have to admit i was like :facepalm:when these came out after I had mine but when I looked closer I still would have spent the same $ on the aftermarket stuff so guess it worked out. Still great looking truck!

Things are progressing quickly. Called every topper dealer between Pasco and Salt Lake City looking for a topper for this thing, finally found a dealer with a used Leer 180 with Thule Bars. was hoping for a cab high, but this ended up working out just fine. Picked it up for $1300, installed and color matched to my truck. So saved about $1000 bucks there. Also picked up a set of like new nerf bars for $100. My weathertechs came in, and my bug shield should be in tomorrow.

Starting to look better and better.
