DIY Painting Brake Calipers

So my newest project was to paint my brake calipers. It turned out really great in my opinion.

First Step:


Dupli-Color Caliper Paint kit

I actually got one with red paint and didn't want to use that so I got another spray can of black caliper paint. The paint that comes in the kit is brush on not spray on.

Second:

Take your wheel off. (Use jack stands) I didn't have any.



Third:

Use the spray cleaner that comes in the kit and a plastic brush or toothbrush to scrap all the dirt away. Mine definitely wasn't perfect. You just want to get all the stuff off that would make the paint flake off. I spent probably 20 minutes scrubbing each side.

Forth:

Tape off the part the caliper covers and the part that could get paint on the rotors. Also cut out some cardboard to place around the outside.





Fifth:

Paint it up. Following the directions. The spray can was basically wait 10 minutes between each coat.



Sixth:

Put the wheel back on and hope you didn't screw it up.
