Toyo vs Goodyear

Looking at getting some new mud terrains. Whats everyone's thoughts on the Toyo MT vs the Goodyear Duratrec? I'll be running a 265/75/16. I also have a pretty good commute so I need good highway performance/longevity.

 

My Toyo's M/Ts are great! I've only put like 10k on them so far but im loving them! That same size too.

 

As I'm sure you already know, Mud Terrains and highway performance don't really go hand in hand...

If you get snow where you live, I'd certainly pick the Duratrac's over the Toyo's.

Other than that, can't tell you much, sorry!

duratracs aint mud tires. more just a really aggressive all terrain like what i have the kelly safari's

 

duratracs! love mine to death. Very good in wet conditions. I live in Florida and it rains every evening in the summer so I have had a lot of opportunity to test wet conditions.

 

So you have the 3in OME lift and running the 265/75/16? That's the exact setup i'm thinking of going with. Do you ever feel like the 265s are too small and wish you got 285s? I'm torn which size to go with.

 

I have 3 inch lift with ome coils and billies with 265/75s. Somedays i wish i had bigger tires but tires came before my lift. The 265s look fine with a lift and you wont run into any problems with rubbing and what not. Im torn between 255s 265s and 285s when i get new tires. there are pros and cons to each. In a perfect world for me i would choose a taller 265 but none exist.

 

I actually ended up getting tires before I got my lift so that was the biggest I could run with out a lift.
But I think it still looks good, the tires just look a tad small but they are about 32" anyways so not far off from 33"s

 

I had toyo M/T's on my Z-71, they made it 50,000 miles, loved them. I will be running them on my Tacoma hopefully pretty soon

 

Any chance you have a side pic of your truck i could see? Just wanna see how the tires look from that angle. By the way, your truck looks sweet! I love that blue on the tacos!

 

This is on a slant so it looks raked but theres a 3" lift on 265/75r16's

 

truck looks great! and the tires don't look to small for a 3in lift. i think i'll probably end up going with the 265s so i don't have to worry about any trimming/rubbing. thanks for posting the pic

 

Thanks man! and yeah they don't look too small at all.. the only spot I rub is when I turn the wheel all the way to the right I rub on the UCA on the drivers side but that's fine with me ill be getting new UCA's anyways.

 

Im sure i do. Let me do some looking. If i dont have one i can go take one. Cant have too many picture of our trucks. thanks alot i liked the color ok when i first got it but after blacking almost everything out i really like the color.

 

We probably sell 3 times more Toyos then Goodyears yet see twice the Goodyear failures as we do with Toyos. At the same time more of the Toyos never see anything but pavement so who knows.

I just sold my Tacoma with 265/70/17 Toyo MTs on it. I put over 23,000 on those tires and they still have a massive amount of tread left. Taken reasonable care of, I have no doubt I could have gotten 60,000 out of them on a truck as light as the Taco. Off-road performance is phenomenal and highway isn't bad either. I never had the oppportunity to test them in snow, but I have a buddy in north Idaho that has them on his Chevy and he loves their winter perfomance. I will be putting them on my Tundra in the not too distant future as well.

The toyos are a lot tougher, they have proper 3 ply sidewalls along with thick sidewall treads, its been noted quite a bit the the duratracs have sidewall failures when wheeled in rocky conditions. If its just street driving the duratrac is a nice tire that will perform on all road conditions. All that babble said, my next set of tires may very well be the toyos, they have the size with the dimensions i want. Im now running full ome lift with dick cepeck mud country tires in 265s, they are awesome in all conditions ive put them in, from snowy pavement in canada to mud and rock wheeling. If the size i want happens to become available i would not even think twice about buying these again.

 

Have Duratracs. Switching to Toyo MTs next month. Looking forward to comparing ride / longevity differences. I've seen a Tacoma with Toyos same size as mine parked next to me, and I think the Toyos look better. (Personal preference).

I'm sure you would be happy with either tire.
