I purchased a 2012 Tacoma DCSB OR with entune last Friday. Yes, like so many other Tacoma's in CO it's Silver. Colorado is way too dusty and f'n HOT in the summer to have a dark truck. I love it.
Whoooo Hoo, my wife and I are so pumped! I've wanted a Tacoma for years and now I finally can get rid of my POS Grand Cherokee! nice.
I've been lurking around in the forums for a while now, lots of good info. TW is a great forum. Most of the serious mods are well beyond my current knowledge base, but I gotta start somewhere.

    Usage:
1st - Family truck hence the double cab, we have two children + my daily driver around the front range of Colorado. My daily commute is less than 25 miles round trip.
2nd - Backcountry MTB'ing (day trips) & family camping (weekends) as frequently as possible. These two activities keep me sane.
3rd - CO winters I70 up to summit county = tons of snow and ice.
4th - My boss is a truck/car guy and has the 4 x 4 bug, so I'm sure that I'll have some adventures as a result.
5th - MTB/camping road trips with my crew, load up the bikes and beers point the truck towards the desert. fun.

I don't currently have any major mods planed, but here's my current situation.

I've got the OEM roof top rack in my garage, so I'll install that as soon as I have a warm day with some free time.

First thing Monday morning I'll be on the phone ordering a Snugtop XV with the flip down front window, Yakima rails and the Prolock system. I'll have to wait 3 or 4 weeks for delivery, DOH!

Also contemplating replacing my 265/70r/16 BFG Rugged Trails with 265/75r/16 BFG T/A KO's or something similar. Why? Well, the BRG RT's don't have much of a winter reputation and I'd like a slightly larger tire to fill out the truck. I've always liked the look of the BFG T/A KO and I have several friends who have endorsed them.

I'd also like to tint the front windows, but I need to drive the truck at night for a while first to understand if would be happy with the darker front windows.

If anyone cares to comment on the SnugTop Prolock or the art of tire lore please fell free to chime in.

    Cheers,

    Salt

If you like the KO's, you will like the Grabber AT2 as well. They are also half the cost. I ran both tires, and the Grabbers performed as well as the Ko's.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll check out the Grabber as well. Do you run The AT2 as an all season, or just a winter tire?

I've been looking at the General website a bit, I only see one tire offered in the 265/75/16 size. It's an LT tire correct?

    Cheers,

    Salt

Yes, the trails around Fruita & Loma are rad. We get out there a few times a year.

I'm not the photographer within my MTB crew, but here are a few random shots taken around Fruita and some local trails.

Note, first try on posting photos here so hopefully this works.

    Cheers,

    Salt

Old thread but I figured I'd just add to my original post.

Early on I installed the factory cab roof rack, SnugTop XV with Yakima rails, and a full bed rug. My truck has been awesome, it's been a solid addition to the family.

I'm pretty stoked. Early September I've got an appointment scheduled for the following.

full OME kit (866 + Dakars, etc)
    SPC UCAs
    ARB front bumper w/fog lights
    M8000 Winch
    Slee Sliders
Plus I ordered a set of flat black FJ TRD wheels last Fri.

Now I'm considering tires for my new wheels. I'm leaning heavily towards 255's just not sure which ones.

I'll post a few pics of the truck after it's "done".

    Cheers,

    Salt

Here are a few pics of my recent mods. I figure as this was my into thread i'd post them here.
