    Hey There,
Just got a little too friendly with a big tree stump; Left my bumper a bit outta wack. I'm not very mechanically inclined, so I wanted to get some advice on what to do and what to check for.
I'm not keen on the idea of getting a new bumper. Is there anything I can do myself to straighten this out a bit? I've heard of using a hairdryer to heat it up and then banging it out a bit. Any input would be great.
    Thanks![IMG]

Honestly i'd just put a steel bumper on the back (if funds allow), you could try the hairdryer and see if it'd work.

What, no backup camera on your TRDsport?. Yeah, looks like a new bumper will be the best/easiest thing to do.

You could always look around and get estimates for Paint less Dent Remover(PDR). I am not sure how much it would cost since that it's a pretty big dent you have. When I first read your titled I thought that it was going to be something small. You worked that stump good. :) Wait for some others to chime in and see what we can do without trying to replace the bumper, but you might be pretty limited on options.

I'll offer you some advice by saying don't take it to insurance?
    Other than that I dunno.

But a bumper from allpro would be a good choice..

Yeah a hair dryer won't get that anywhere near hot enough to matter. You can try pounding on it but for it to ever look half decent you'll probably need a new bumper.

What about taking the bumper off and using a hammer from the back to possible make the dent smaller. Then using heat and some more hammering?

Even if he tries and push it out from behind the bumper and makes it smaller?

You can probably take the bumper off, and hammer it out to get the rough shape back. It won't be pretty, but it will fix the major shape issues. As far as the smaller details, I can't help you there. The hammering/get it to about 80% is more my area of expertise.

One option might be to look around junkyards for any wrecked trucks or on the forum for people who replaced their bumpers with aftermarket.

If you heat the metal up it is more pliable and I assumed he would take the bumper off first

Are aftermarket bumpers that much more expensive then getting one from the dealership painted etc(OEM bumper)?

Thanks for all the replied so far, super helpful stuff.
As I said, I'm far from handy- Any write-ups on removing the bumper?

Probably not- I had entertained the idea of blacking out the bumper anyways so I don't care about finding a barcelona red match. But my feeling is that finding a factory match would be too pricey to make sense, I'd just go for something after market.

Do you have the OEM trailer hitch? Or just the bumper on it's own?
