I'm looking for a 8 to put in a cubby hole box for the back of my 98 Xtra cab. I'm looking for a sub that can be good for SQ while I commute daily, but also be good for SPL when turned up loud. I had a SA-12 in the past and it was LOUD. I had 1500 watts rms running it and the box was ported. I'd be running about 500 ways rms to this sub. Any good suggestions? I figured a ID8 or a SD-8 would work great. Any input would be apprciated!!! Thanks!!!

This is the box I would put it in...

the SD-8 is the closest to the 0.2x cu ft that enclosure provides

I'm leaning twoard Image Dynamics because of SQ... If I wanted some thump I'd go with Sundown hands down...

The IDQ10 V4 D4 takes 500w rms, so if you want to step up from the 8" you can.
Im going with the IDQ10v4d4 for my 06 doublecab, i too wanted SQ over SPL.

Its going into a cubby hole box in my back seat, so all the box will have Cubic Feet for is a 8. I dont really care about having "boom boom" all the time, I want something that will sound good with Alt Country but also could go along with some rap occasionally.

I run 2 Sundown SD-2 10"s in two sealed boxes behind the seats of my DC, and have a Sundown SAZ-1500D amp powering them with 1500W. They are good at low volume, accurate and clean, but when turned up, I feel it in my chest. But you don't sacrifice clarity for SPL for SQ when turned up either. They still play clean at high volumes. And the SD-2 series is good for small boxes. I've got each sub in a .65 cu.ft. enclosure with about a 1/2 lb. of stuffing in each box, and they sound great.
