You have to put it in neutral, and then throw it in to 4lo. There is a 'procedure' in the owners manual that tells you how to do it.

ITs not like the 4hi where you can just throw it in while driving. 4lo you have to be stopped, in neutral....and I forget the rest but theres a good description in the owners manual :D

welcome to the site btw

Go in dirt, put in 4HI, drive a few feet, stop, put in N, put on 4L, wait to engage.

Tried all of the above, got under the truck and tapped on the selonoid assembly at the rear of the transfer case. It started working but quit again the next day. Anyone know which of the selonoids control low range or do I need to replace the whole assembly?

I was going to say the ADD actuator, but that would mean your whole 4x4 wouldn't be working. Someone correct me on this.

    That makes sense to me.

I would say drive more in 4H (couple hundred feet), N, 4L, then barely let off gas to roll and see if that engages it. other than that I don't know.

It beeped on me before, because I just went into 4L right away.

When stopped are you pressing the clutch all the way to the floor?

So you were able to get the truck in 4lo after taping it, and then after a few days you weren't able to throw it in 4lo anymore? Also, as this is happening 4hi still works

    is this right?

Won't go into 4L unless the clutch pedal switch is fully depressed.

My experience with my manual transmission to get it in to 4lo is start rolling in 4 hi then pop the clutch in put it in Neutral while slowly rolling at like 2-3 mph put it in low.

There's a big difference between going into H4 and then going into L4. Did you follow the steps provided in the card in the sun visor correctly. Because if not, it will beep at you!
