Both have dual VVT-i and cartridge filters.
It is a different engine from the Tacoma.

Yeah I asked the dealer about this when I 1st got my truck and was told no syn. oil, changes every 5k, reason I asked is our sienna got syn and changed every 10k...I do what they say, you'd think they would know.

And yet we have members here with over 100k trouble-free running 10w30 in their 2.7s in cold climates... "Because that's what they've always used"

Going by that, I'd still be using Castrol GTX or Valvoline 20w50 on any engine with over 100k on it.

    But my 2.7 gets M1 5w20.
    Wife's '04 Rav4 gets 5w30.

    Spout?

    Bahh.... That was pop-top era.

When I learned to change oil, we used the same churchkey that we used to open our Canada Dry cola!

I use to cuss a little myself. Fortunately I did not have to put up with them for long. I found a pull tab off a beer can on a ranch 2 years ago.

Before switching to synthetic i asked both the dealership service manager and corperate Toyota... they both said absolutly no problem as long as it's the same grade and rateing.

Replacing my furnace filter, I caught a glimmer of something between the 1st and 2nd floor.

    An unopened pull-tab Dr. Pepper.

Also found a flattened Pepsi can in the bathroom...
The flattened can was covering a gap in the ply flooring behind the waste line. I found it when I ripped up the carpet ( ) and the linoleum to lay tile.

Don't let anybody tell you that today's construction is worse than the early 70s.

I just checked the toyota owners site and realized the dealer is putting 5w20 in my 4.0L despite the manual stating 5w30 or 10w30. Wouldn't matter if it was winter or I lived in a cooler climate, but in AZ, in the summer. WTF?
