You need an amp. Not enough power from radio causes distortion and cracking. An amp will boost power and will greatly improve the sound overall. If your radio has a built in amp (I couldn't get the radio page to load at work), then I will leave this for the expert stereo guys to answer..

A typical 50w/channel stereo puts out 3 watts of clean sond and 47 of distortion, nothing kills a speaker faster than distortion. If youre getting distortion at anything above the lowest settings youve probably already blown them. Fwiw you can usually seriously overdrive a speaker as long as the signal is clean. Dirty at 1/4 capacity will kill them in seconds.

I have screwed with settings. Could it be a shorting speaker wire somewhere touching metal?

You definitely need an amp to power those speakers. It'll be much cleaner power.

Are you still using the factory speaker wire? That stuff is like 22 or 24 gauge. It's terrible. You should run new beefier gauge/higher quality speaker wire.

But I seriously suggest buying a 2-channel 75 watt amp. It's small and inexpensive and will greatly improve your speakers sound.

Also, sound deaden the door panels. Our trucks' doors are so resonant that it doesn't matter how sick your speakers and head unit are. They won't sound as clean as it should.

He needs a 4 ch amp. 4 speakers.

You need an amp. Your headunit cant supply even close to the right amount of power.

So wait. From my understanding on car amps.....

My rear deck has 3 rca out puts. Front in. Rear and SW. I got my sub hooked in SW. Now i wanna put the amp under my passenger seat. Do i run the rca to Rear out put then to the amp? How does 4 channel mean 4 speakers? I assume i diss connect the speakers from the deck and hook up to amp and it should be all good *plus remote.groud and BAT*

    4 channels...4 speaks..one speaker per channel..

the 4 ch amp will have 4 RCA inputs, two for front and two for rear. Plug in just like thy are labeled and color coded.

you'll need to run power to the amp and the signal on off one.

No you can't run you speakers off the sub amp. Its only getting low freq.

from there you have to run speaker wire to the speakers as labled. Rear L, Rear R, Front L, Front R. + to + and - to -

    pretty simple.

this is a perfect example as to why people never setup audio stuff right. You have a sub with a 1000w amp..how is your little HU suppose to compete with that? no wonder your trying to over drive them to keep up with the sub. What your hearing is the lovely sound of Amp Distortion. Which is horrible sounding and also bad for your speakers.

Sorry uncle blackdawg:(:( The sub is a 1200 watt sub and amp is 1000. I will be adding a 4 channel amp hoping this settles my stereo trouble. Its wierd because my old jvc deck sounded awesome like this. with no change.

you said you messed with it. You could have engaged more gain with the EQ or loudness setting..thus tapping out the built in amp.

also you sub amp is too small for the sub. well..maybe. What its RMS wattage? Peak wattage means nothing.

I believe Dynamat or there is a company that makes a full kit for us. Madjic knows and used it. RAAMaudio or something..
