Had a coiple flighys on the micro and so far it is surprisingly stable! So far only problem I have had is it doesn't want to keep its acc calibrations. But I wonder if it is trying to cal to whatever angle I am holding it when I plug the battery in... I will have to mess with it more later.

But will definately help kill the time when I am stuck sitting on standby. I can wait to really start messing with the fine details on it!

Thank you, but I did not install or build it. I got a 99% working product from Mike. I'm not exactly sure what of it he built/bought, but all I did was ad the last part to the ground station, clean up some wires in there, and install the transmitting equipment in the quad.

Went to a local hobby shop today looking for a stand alone BEC and saw a Blade 350QX quad... Very similar to Phantom but a little cheaper.

I actually got to try one of those out at the shop I got the phantom from and considered it for a little bit. cool little machine. comes with a nicer gopro mount than the phantom, since it has isolators. it doesn't have the power though. smaller motors. it felt a lot more toy-ish to me. i'm curious where the aftermarket for it goes, since it pretty much doesn't have any right now, being so new. do have to thank it for the $200 price drop in the phantom though :D

I've seen some reviews on RCG and it seems to be decent given the cost.... Claims 15min flight time (without GP3) which isn't bad for the price...

    Hmmm

    sexy hexy!

that'd be a real nice flight time assuming that's actualy manuvering, not just hover time. you take a look at the blades while you were there? and we thought the phantom blades were flexable

i'd imagine so. seems like the norm for any RTF unit in the 350-550 range (in that price range at least)

you see the same thing in the rc truck and car world. Tires are typically the first thing to change out on anything RTR.

check them out next time though. it's like bending a credit card.

Motor test complete...receiver test complete. Added the landing gear as well.

Need to wire up a new BEC and safety switch and she'll be ready to fly. Tarot products are top notch... I'm very impressed with the quality and fit and finish of this aircraft. :)

So, adding everything up including motors, batteries, the frame and EScs it's just shy of $1500, not including the flight controller, Tx/Rx and misc cables and connectors.

That's without the camera and gimbal too...
