This is my first thread..so forgive me if I posted in the wrong spot... Also, not sure how to add images directly to the thread so just attaching them...so again, bear with me.
Anyway, I hated that none of the cup holders in my 2013 didn't really fit a Nalgene water bottle (that I always seem to be carrying) so I came up with this...and love it, so thought I would share.

1.Bought this Hook and loop (hook velcro backing) water bottle holder from Maxpedition:
    http://www.maxpedition.com/store/pc/Hook-and-Loop-32oz-1L-Water-Bottle-Holder-60p1463.htm

2.Added a strip of sticky Loop velcro to the side of the center console.
top of the holder sticks to that and the bottom sticks to the carpet... and holds super well. But is easily removable.

water bottle slides in easy and does not get in the way of my leg (personally)
    **optional:
I added a Stainless Steel Camping Cup in the bottom of the holder...Nalgene slides in and out easy. Added it more for an extra survival tool in the truck... in case I need to boil water. And also for coffee from my Jetboil.

    cheers!

I thought nalgene is carcinogenic and is to be avoided when selecting drinking vessels….

The forward cup holders pop out to make room for larger cups, but I reckon this will work too.

you'd think with all the cup holders, at least one would fit a over sized bottle.

    Nice work OP

Looks like a bottle-behind-the-brake-pedal waiting to happen imo.

My 2005 came with cup holders that fit the Nalgene bottles perfectly...can even fit two if I wanted.

I just take one of the cup holders out and put it in the center console anytime I carry my Nalgene.

I like this idea, only I would put it on the back of my center console. A roll up dump pouch could make a nice odds and ends bag.

Nalgene bottles fit perfectly in 2012/up cup holders right next to where OP attached the velcro, you just have to pull out the rubber inserts.

Its awesome, and I love velcro/pouches, but I would have mounted it on the passenger side. I'd hate for the adhesive to heat up on a hot day and peal off and that Nalgene bottle to get in the way of your foot if you needed to put on brakes. I haven't attached velcro to my 2nd gen but did on a 1st gen and it just doesn't stick very well over time if it bears weight.

Bottles are not an issue. I just need a tray for the cheese and crackers. :proposetoast:

    J/k of course..

That is what the fold forward front passenger seat is for! :)
