Has anyone swapped out their cooling fan with an electric fan on for the 2012 tacos. Ive been looking into this but havent found anything so far.
Id love for it to be a double fan system.

For what reason? Mileage? You would probably need to have a custom shroud built to work with two puller fans and have them work correctly.

I'm going to install a 12" pusher on the condenser this winter to help cool the a/c down quicker in the summer, but I don't see any need for electric fans other than to maybe save .5 mpg getting rid of the engine driven fan.

The E-fan takes a decent load off of the engine compared to having to drive direct fan, so you can get a little more performance out of it. Sure it is a trade off since that load is transferred to the alternator but E-fans aren't on all the time like the direct fan is.

A lot of the X-runners do it. They say it is about on par with swapping the light weight pulleys on. I've wanted to do it for that reason.

Engine driven fans are not on all the time. When driving, the fan clutch is usually disengaged. Only when a certain temp is reached does the fan clutch lock up.

Any idea what the temp is for our rigs? Seems like the fan is always spinning on mine, although it may not be clutch engaged spinning, but it is still a load.

I have the Flex-a-lite Tacoma kit on mine. I like the lack of start-up roar, but I also noticed no performance or mpg gains. Just a quieter truck... Hard to justify the price.

With the e fan you also remove the weight of the factory fan hanging out there

I know I'm my older ranger I gained about 2mpg and noticed slight increase in throttle response. This why I wanted to put it in

I wanted to do it to remove the weight, noise, gain w.e mileage I can, and also gain more room in the front. I dunno why it was in my head to have a dual but I retract that lol

As for putting a 12" pusher. That's also a good idea. I find toyotas don't seem to get as cold with ac as others. At least for my truck and my 2010 rolla

Modern A/C unit like higher head pressure that is why the fans cycle by cooling the condenser even more you may make it worse. The clutch fan does feel wheel but the slight bit of drag makes it turn, it draws no power from the engine you can stop it with your hand. Bet the weight of the fan you remove will equal the weight of an electric fan.

    Build thread in sig...
I've been looking into one for a while. don't really care about the power/mileage. i just want it for wheeling. seen too many trucks go in for water crossings and snap off all of their fan blades. would be a great preventative measure to have an electric fan with an in-cab on/off switch, in addition to the thermostat switch.
