Does anybody know a fab place that makes tube doors for the 05+ tacomas? I would really like to get some for trail riding, so i wont mess up my doors. All help and suggestions are appreciated. Thanks

for 2nd gen? I looked just for fun.. and couldn't find anything.

Buy a cheap jeep. It'll do better stock than a beefed up truck and you can beat the hell out of it.

I assume that was a typo and you're thinking that a truck is more capable than a purpose built off roader.

Come on. I've been out in my jeep, rover, fj40 and montero with "you guys". It was boring waiting.. and painful watching.

Nothing wrong with a pickup, but it's not what it was designed for. Thats why you see anyone that does crawling or "off roading" seriously in a truck turns their pickup into a jeep like machine. Got to chop off the front and the back just to start off. The IFS lifts are usually done wrong too.

I did all my stuff right, i dont like jeeps cause they lack power and space. I can pack 4 of my buddies and all of our crap into my truck, my buddy has a jeep and it cant fit more than 3 of us and it has no storage space

Two different animals. BTW my Cherokee can hold its own off road with 4 people and gear, thanks to the 4.0 straight six.

Are you looking for four tube doors or just two for the fronts?

The 4.0L is piece of shit engine with no power, sucks gas and 60's technology. My 2.7L Taco has same amount of power that the 4.0L grand cherokee had I used to drive for work... YUCK! But yeah it would beat pretty much any car from the line on wet pavement in 4wd mode...LOL Yes I abused the hell out of the thing. When I quit the tranny was slipping like hell at 120k miles...

Jeeps are the best off road vehicle out of the box. However their power train sucks balls. Thanks to 60's technology... I mean c'mon pushrod in 2010? No VVT or Dual over head cam...

There's a guy over on TTORA who has fabbed a few doors up for the '05+. Can't recall the name but I'm sure searching the '05 folder will find it pretty quick.

Very year dependent. 4.0 is "venerable" and was generally great. They don't do that anymore. AMC auto transmissions on the other hand.. peeeyooo

If you can figure out how to do the hinges (say get some junk ones) many fab places should be able to do it up.

Neighbor guy just got a new roll cage for his jeep fabbed at a fencing place. Nice job too.

They might be sluggish in a Grand Cherokee due to the extra weight, I have a XJ. 4.0's are torque monsters. Different trans then a Grand too, xj's have a AW4. Both my engine and trans have 238,xxx miles on them and have no issues. Plus the solid axles don't hurt either.

Keep in mind the sheer weight and size of our doors to swap out and re-install if going at it alone and worse if you have a double cab. I would do it if you have a trail rig beater but the negatives of door storage space, door mishaps during removal/re-installing, sudden rain showers, dirty interior, etc..outweigh trying to look like a Jeep.
