I needed something that worked with my high jack (clear it) but wasn't flimsy. I had seen some negative comments about the kobalt slim toolbox so I decided not to get that one. Here is what I got. I bought some aluminum stock I am going to use to securely mount his to the bed and it will be done. :)bedubeda_b80976a8b579328ef2d0177a259265a2adf76574.jpgbymyde3a_6fc254f706992e314ee1fe63a5512eb56909493e.jpg4y5yvyhe_a94cbef2caf682b7bd38d784f312b194a2ad87e7.jpg

I have the same exact one. Good choice! I just used self tappers through the bottom into the bed to secure it.

What are those mounts holding the high lift jack in there? Are they do it your self, or bought?

    Looks like ATO's
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/ar...ng-bracket-kit-05-tacoma-pickup-beds-ato.html
    Relentless makes them also.

Hey Tony, how far away is your high lift from the bedsides roughly? I want to upgrade to a 60" but my relentless brackets hold the high lift to close to the side of the bed and a longer hilift will not clear my thule racks.

I just recently posted that I bought one a few weeks ago! I ended up with the TBC42W.. looks like thats what model you have? It fits between the wheel wells like a glove and is the perfect height to fit under my tonneau. I love it and think it was a great purchase.. as much as i like the black powdercoating though i couldnt justify the extra $150 that Amazon wanted for it. Haha looks good though!

I also made my own mounting bracket out of 1/8" steel so that it bolts into the factory bed rails instead of through the bed floor. I was weary about drilling into the bed of a new truck, and wanted to be able to remove it quickly and easily. I can get some pics of that tomorrow if youd be interested to see it.

Correct they are the ATO hi lift mounts

And without actually measuring them I'd guess they're about 4-5 inches away from the bedsides.

I have been on the lookout for a secure box that fits under my tonneau cover. Can you post up some links for the black ones?

*edit: seeing as you have a double cab you may be able to get crossover box to sit down in the bed over the wheel wells given the width is small enough

The UWS TBS54SPLA is the perfect size for that. It is a normal crossover but is made for a ranger so it sits on top of the wheel wells and the box part fits perfectly between the wells.. I was going to buy that but then realized I wouldn't be able to open the lid with the rails for my tonneau sticking out the way that they do. It would work perfectly if nothing is blocking it though. It is 54" wide at its widest an the short bed is 55" wide.

I'm on my phone right now otherwise I'd link it but I found them on Amazon for $297 shipped.

I have not done it yet, but my idea was to get a box that goes from side to side but only 12 inches wide then attach my high lift to the box. I want to make it so you have to open the box to get the highlift off the box. Hopefully that would make it secure.

My high jack mounts have holes in the bolts for a lock (which I use)
