I'm looking to get a leveling kit or even a lift kit. I would like you opinion on what you have found out to be the best route. I have a 2006 Tacoma crew cab. I do some off road but the majority of my driving is freeway. I am considering only going 3 inch. Whether that be a lift or just a level kit I'm not sure. Any feedback would be appreciated.

5100s all around -- 1.75 fronts, 1.5 aal, spidertraxs, grillcraft mx, derped scoop & badges, AVID step bars....need.more.money.
5100s. Fronts set at 1.75 with either 1" block or 1.5" aal in rear...if you're going for "level." It seems as though you are seeking more lift, however, based on 3" statement, in which case the possibilities are nearly endless. TW search feature would be your best bet for gathering info and making a decision that suits your needs, because the input you receive with a question such as this will vary greatly.

There are a lot of options. Best combo of ride and price is going to be some lift coils up front with Bilstein 5100s, and an Add-a-leaf out back.

Toytec Coilovers, Total Chaos uca's, Wheelers aal+Bilstein 5160's. 285/70/17's, Method Double Standards. Magnaflow exhaust, GrilleCraft grille, Allpro bumper, diff breather relocate, yellow wire mod, oil catch can, weathertechs.
So many options to choose from. Based on your application, i'd start simple. Get a set of Bilstein 5100's for the front, set them at 1.75 and see how u like. If you need more, get an aal for the the rear and set the 5100's up front to 2.5. SImple, fairly inexpensive, and better than spacers.

I just did the 5100's and AAL (front set at 2.25) and I'm really happy with how it turned out. I had a issue with getting it aligned right. I need to change the upper control arms to get the caster angle right (something to think about).

after reading the bold sentences in OP, and this:

I dont know if the kit linked below would be the best for him.... I rode in a 2005 with this setup at the 3" mark and it rode horribly stiff. Was it a fluke?
The kit does use a typical 5100 shock with standard valving along with a 620lb coil and preloads it. Again, I dont know if it was a fluke, but the truck I rode in with these was terrible onroad probably due to the digressive valving of the 5100's, along with the 620lb coils, and preloading. I assume offroad would have felt different as the digressive nature would excel, but the OP does majority of onroad driving.

Would the proper OME coils and OME shocks valved to compliment their coils be better for OP possibly?

For rear ride compliance onroad and a 1.5" rear lift, I would look for a progressive 3 pack add a leaf. Leave in the overload and ur looking at 2" in the rear and 3" front..... just may put u level with a decent ride.

The Dakars from OME will get u 3", but Im not sure if u wanna level look or a full 3" front and rear.

For 2.5" and above ur looking at getting new UCA's also.... And Im not sure what the cutoff point is for needing longer brake lines.

If you set the 5100 to 1.75 in front do you have to do anything for the rear if you have a 13? or will it make the ass sag low?

I believe 1.75 should level the truck. I friend did the 1.75 on a 2011 with out the AAL, and it leveled it....
