I really like the 100XL, but its $400 more than the 100R...should I splurge? I got the cash, but that extra cash could go to magnaflow exhaust if I got the cheaper model.

    100R

Is the exhaust going to save you more in fuel during it's lifetime?:)
Seems like in the long term the exhaust would pay for itself. I suspect not 1 out of 50 people would really notice the subtle differences in the toppers, and I bet the 100R is actually a little stronger because of the slightly smaller windows, making for more Fiberglass on the sides and corners.
    But that's just my opinion.;)

I would go with the 100R and leave the exhaust alone and take the extra $ and visit my local gun store. just my .02

Which one do you want to see every time you look at your truck? That's a big ticket item not to be sure of. My opinion, I think the XL looks better on the Taco.

I would recommend the Leer 100R and make sure to get the Radius Side window option and sliding front window. The Radius Side window gives you an awning type opening on the side which makes access to items in the box much easier. With the low profile of these toppers having that easy access from the side is invaluable.I have had these caps without the side window and it is a major pain in the ass!

I actually emailed requesting a price on the RCC. I'd have to add a vent for my dogs.

I think on the 100XL the windows only pop out, not adequate ventilation for the pups. I've seen a few used and that's why I didn't purchase. The sliders are better for the pooch!

Better for the pooch, and better for you if you sleep back there.

Buy the XL you'll regret it later buying the cheaper model I promise :)
Also R would look good on a 90's truck with the side molding and rubber XL all the way

Think about getting one of the mid rise toppers.... trust me it is worth it in the long run
Much more space for packing the back full and if you spend ANY time sleeping in your truck that extra six to eight inches of room is priceless.....

with the mid rise and bars on top I took about a 1MPG hit and it is more then worth it.

if you dont want to mid rise I would also suggest you price out an ARE. I have really good luck with them, and I think they are just a bit better in terms of quality but thats just my 2 cents
    good luck

This pretty much says it. Every time you walk up to your truck you'll regret not getting what you want. Over the course of the years the $400 will be well spent.

As OZ said, check the lift height of the glass. I have the 100xq, I prefer it for the clean look, however the glass doesn't go as high as I think it should. I will eventually fab up new hinges that will let it go up more.

I think the 100R or the 100RCC look better....their windows match the windows on the truck far better ( slightly inset with a gasket surround ) . My $.02

I think mine is the 100r. it has a light on the inside, sliding windows with pet screens, the whole thing is carpeted, and it has the front sliding window.

My opinion, i don't like it, i didn't want it, it was on the truck when i got it and i'm afraid to sell it because it is a color that was only on so many tacomas and it is a very limited market.

Replacing glass in these caps is F*%#ING HORRIBLE. Broke one of the sliding windows and getting a new one in took three people and over two hours.

The sliding windows leak, they pretty much have since i got the truck, it is pretty bad at highway speed.

It is nice for having my lawn care equpiment safe and locked up but i'd almost rather have a small trailer (probably enclosed) for that.

It is a premium cap and it does look nice and fit very well....but storing them sucks, putting things in the front of the bed sucks, the leaking sucks, the led third light is nice as well as the light on the inside, and it is a pain in the arse to vacuum the carpet on yhe inside of te cap. I'd never have one again.

    My 0.02

If you have a stock engine, there's not a thing wrong with the stock exhaust. Buy the shell that you like best and leave the exhaust alone until it falls off the truck.
