Back end one side higher than other

I just did an AAL and one side of my truck is higher than the other.... pretty sure it was already like this before I added it but could this mean one of my shocks are going bad? Its a trd with the bilstiens, 115k never been replaced..... how would I determine? And also my truck is pulling left and wonder if that has anything to do with it. Getting an alignment done tomorrow

Good lord!, 115k miles and you havent replaced your shocks? I think its about time you replaced all 4. Even if they are not leaking.

 

If the truck is not level in the front that can certainly affect your alignment. Typically due to the battery & driver there is more weight on the driver's side of our trucks and over time they develop "Taco lean" (Rangers do this too). The proper solution would probably be a spring/shock replacement, but I saw someone else here mention shims to raise the driver's side and level the truck. I'm sure someone more experienced will chime in.

 

OP: the shock will not effect lean cause they do not hold weight per say. They way to determine if your shocks are bad is go over a bump and see if you keep bouncing. If you only bounce once and it stops bouncing then your shocks are still good.

 

You can get a trimmer pack from OME that will fix the Taco lean.

 

Thanks everyone for the responses... now a few more questions... would a lean make it pull left or is that just an alignment> I know these are questions that are hard to determine over the internet, but either way I am getting an alignment done tomorrow and am hoping it will fix the pull. I just had new wheels put on but they are stock height 17"s and It looks like it through the camber off a little. With all that being said, this truck has higher miles and these shocks were only driven highway not like constant pounding roads... it drives smooth and the shocks compress well and don't bounce back up, BUT I'd love to get some 5100 billies just gotta sell it to the wife haha, so maybe I will tell her this is all due to the shocks

 

The lean shouldnt have anything to do with you drifting to the left. All Tacomas have the tilt coming out of the factory.

The lean doesn't really bother me, just that pull which I am sure the alignment will fix

 

I keep my 100+ # toolbox on the right/passenger side of the bed toolbox. Hopefully that helps even it out some.

 

I just did the Toytech AAL as well. Passenger side is ~1" higher. I added Bilstein 5100 on the rear too. Didn't have enough time to do the front so I'm doing that this coming Sunday. Hopefully, adding Eibach springs and front Bilstein shocks will even it out more.

Just wondering, did you notice any vibrations around 5-10mph?

 

I haven't noticed any around 5-10... there have been a lot of posts on it though, they say you might have to get a "drop" u bolt/joint for your drive shaft... I might be saying that a little wrong but that is what I have read after doing some of these AAL's. I think its really cheap, Also give it some time to settle... after lifting its alway a little higher then when it finally settles. I bet when you do the front it will even out though

 

I can tell u this. I just put on the toytec ulk on and my whole passenger side is at least 1/2-3/4 both front and rear. I can't figure out why either. I have the same amount of threads on each co. How can we even fix the rear?

 

On your kit you can adjust each side. With my coilovers my driver's side has alest 1/2" more thread showing than the passenger's side.

 

Yeah I know I can adjust the front but how do u fix the rear height when it comes to the aal.

Don't forget about the 21 gallon gas tank that also sits on the drivers side. Does it have as much lean when your on the empty mark!

 

Yeah i did purchase a Driveshaft Carrier Bearing Drop Kit as well. I'll probably try adding it in this weekend, doesn't look too difficult to do. Vibrations are not that bad im already getting used to it. Rather not have it though.

How do you like the ride with the AAL? You should just get the 5100's they are pretty cheap.

 

I have an 08 Pre Runner. Bilstiens 5100's. Got the rear leaf tsb 2 years ago.
put some 285s on recently and had to raise the billies to the 2.5 setting. Minor cutting
and I was super happy. Truck was level, no rubbing. Everyone asks where I got my lift.
Just recently discovered front drivers side has the lean. The solutions I have read thus far don't seem to address my scenario. Does anyone have a solution? Or is perfection not achievable.

Problem solved, very easy install. Installs above the coilover, just need to loosen the top 3 bolts and get a heavy friend to stand on the lugs to gain enough space to slide it inplace.
