    How would you handle this?
To get up my driveway with the camper, I need lower gearing on the hill without the auto transmission working really hard.

If pulling in is an option, just pull in 2hi. If you need to back it in, try to stay as straight as possible and use 4lo although the strain on the rear diff is the same. OR, 2lo mod, I believe someone figured out how to make that happen by now.

I wouldn't buy a front receiver for that and also wouldn't put a trailer that big on the front end of the Tacoma. Backing the trailer up a hill once in a while doesn't call for a front receiver in my opinion.

does turning tires to black wall out count? How bout added snug top rebel.
Towing is one of the main reasons all our ranch trucks have 4wd. Four low is the best way to back up a trailer on anything less than pavement, or where you need all the torque to get you backed up a hill like yours.

Learn how to back a trailer? Why the extra time and effort to hook it to the front of the truck when you could already be backed in and having a beer?

    I second that opinion.

I know how to bsck a trailer been doing it for 25 years . I have a trailer that I have to put in some tight spots on my property and if you have ever backed with the front of your truck then you would know how easy it is to move around. So what makes the rear and different than the front when putting weight on it?

i can back a trailer into anywhere backwards that you can front wards....
just sayin, dont waste your time on a front hitch. use 4lo. just dont do any hard turns.
a little advice for people on backing up trailers-
use your mirrors, if you switch back and forth from your mirrors to looking backwards you will get confused and start turning the wrong way. see it happen all the time.

edit: 2LO mod like said above would be best.

4lo, Reverse. I've had to do it. I have a clutch though and didn't want to ride it the whole time.

I haven't. I have no need as I can move trailers around with ease using my factory hitch.

That is a pretty good chunk of tongue weight. That is just my opinion.
