Any t100 guys out here? I know this is tacoma world but this forum is the best IMO. Read this site all the time, lots of good info. I've got a 1993 toyota t100, not the best but being 17 and broke i don't think it's too bad. Paid $800 for it then painted the wheels and put new tires on it. Other then that it's pretty much stock. 3.0 v6 standard cab 4spd auto.

I had a T100 for 8 years. It was a 1995 4WD 3.4L V6 with xtracab DX special edition package. I think that this was the last of the practical sized Toyota trucks. My 2002 and 2004 Tundra definitely was bigger but at the same time a very nice vehicle. When is TOO BIG, TOO MUCH? My 2011 Tundra was a gas hog and just too wide and hard to navigate because of the width. My 04 Tundra got the best gas mileage. I bought a 2012 Taco with a 4 cylinder and was shocked at even worse gas mileage. 4 cylinder no less....
Thanks to youtube suggestions I gained a little more performance and 2 more miles to the gallon. Addionally, I just installed a K&N Air Intake system on my Taco 4 cylinder and now have even better gas mileage and "rocket like" pickup. What a difference! But, back to the T100, I wish Toyota would dial it down to 1995 size and gas mileage but with 2014 modern features.

I think it would be cool if they still made a T100. I've seen a few around. Tundra pretty much took it over though.

Yeah, I was originally looking for a 1st gen taco. They just aren't for sale where I live, then I found this and jumped on it. My moms got a 2012 taco ac 4x4 2.7 auto and it gets about the same gas mileage as my truck. I've always liked the sc lb t100 trucks.

Tell your mom she can get better pickup and better gas mileage if she removes the charcoal filter that is glued into the head of the air intake cover. I got this info from utube and it helped me a lot with my 2012 2.7L Taco gas mileage and pickup. I can only imagine how slow a 4x4 version of the 2.7L Taco would be. I am selling my K&N air filter real cheap from my 2012 Taco. This also helps with performance and gas mileage. I installed the K&N air intake system on my Taco this week and can't believe the difference in power and even better gas mileage.

It's actually not as bad as you'd think. Performance wise. It's not gonna throw you back in your seat but it's decent for a dd, especially for her. But I'll look into that! I've been trying to get her over to a k&n air filter. Thanks for the info!

Welcome to TW! Still a good lookin truck, even though the pic is upside down. :D Definitely not a bad truck for $800! What's the mileage on it, and are there any known problems?

UGH pictures on this website will be the end of me. haha oh well, I'll figure it out one day. When I bought it the rims were iffy, the tires were bad, it had a dodge bedliner "customized" to fit in, and someone put a sunroof in it at one point (wish it didn't even have it..oh well) and it leaked. The only major mechanical issue with it is the transmission shifts a little hard, it doesn't slip, just shifts hard. I'm hoping to do a transmission fluid change sometime soon. A $4 bottle of sealent for the sunroof, $400 worth of tires, an oil change, and some sandpaper and spray paint for the rims fixed it up. It's not much, but at 17 I wasn't expecting anything brand new. It's been a fun project. Oh, and when I bought it, it had 1237xx now it's got 1242xx.

Gotta love a project truck! I bought my 96 Tacoma for $250, and it's been a large project- rebuilt the engine! It's no fun buying new, because there's nothing to fix. :D
Doesn't sound bad at all for $800. I'd definitely do the tranny fluid as soon as possible. Have you checked it yet or know when it was last changed? Don't let it ride like that too long. Change it just in case it might be what is causing the hard shifting. Might be low, or might be so old it has lost some of its properties. And when you do change it, check for metal shavings in it.
