I've been looking at a Bestop for my reg. cab long bed and have seen a lot of pics on here of them installed.

Half of the ones I see posted look good, taught and crisp, just like they do on the manfs. website. The other half look like flacid turds. The material is all wrinkly and wavy, along with the windows.

Is this just because someone didn't take enough time to install it right, or is this just the way they look after being on a while? If so can they be easily retightened to look decent?

    Thanks in advance...

Picture below shows what I'm referring to.

I have looked at those as well but don't dig the lack of windows. It makes our trucks look too much like a military vehicle out of WWII IMHO. :)

just got my bestop the other day for my 06 access cab 6ft bed. It is super tight and looks like the upper half of the pic you have. On the directions it says at first they can be a little wrinkly or have creases but they should come out after a few days of use. I couldn't get the windows in cuz its 30* out and they recommend install above 72* otherwise the fabric can shrink and be hard to work with. I don't plan on putting the windows in until it warms back up only cuz a lot of people say they can break easily in the cold. Other than that I think it looks awesome. Defiantly one of the best things I have bought for my truck so far. Hopefully this was helpful and good luck with your decision!

i dont have for my toyota, but for my CJ7, i have one made by best top, they key is to NEVER ROLL the windows, completely unzip and lay flat, it can seem like a pain sometimes, but you get in the routine, they will stay like new and crisp, if you roll them up they get scrstched, stretched, discolored, ugly. the top itself at least for the jeeps, it will be snug at first but you will see where it kinda breaks in, like some new shoes i guess, just when you put it up have the bars in those 'broken in' spots, its when do it in a hurry and things arent just right but you force it that you se the stress places and stretches and stuff at least from what i have seen.

no, once it starts to kinda frey i guess you could say there is little you can do to kep it taught, there are some different notches, at least on the few i have had on my jeps over the years, that allow tightening by changing length of the bars, but i find thats mainly for just getting it broke in, when you try to compensate for it coming apart or stretched out, its just a matter of time really

hope that helps, i know its not for your truck, but mayabe at least give some info on the manu

    cheers,
    disco

    ---------------- edit/side note ---------------------

CLEAN THE ZIPPERS before zipping and unzipping if you been in mud or sand if possible, you know what i mean, if your on a dusty trail its fine, you go through a bog or clay make sure you at least clean them up some what, helps ALOT to keep things working smoothly, also, again not sure if its exactly the same but when folding and unfolding, put the main part up first, make sure the bars are on the pads then tighten up, then zip on your side windows, on those probably 3 sides, then the bottoms if they like jeeps are kinda like long clips i guess you would call it, stretch the bottom and clip in

I have a bestop and it was a bitch putting it on.. In any case I'm super happy with it. It is super tight and it protects my stuff in the bed from getting wet.

I never roll the windows. I simply remove them. They don't look like a flaccid turd. Haha

I'd reccomend anyone to get one if it fits your usage of the truck of course
