Hey guys i did a search but couldn't find anything about this. Has anybody cutout this area in the backseat of their access cab and/or made some kind of storage container to fit this area in order to gain storage space? Seems like a good idea to me, was wondering if anybody else has done it.

Not a fruitful space to exploit in terms of storage. The drive shaft hump continues through there. Better to focus your creative energies on designing a shelf or cabinet storage bin that resides above that platform.

I thought about trying to do a pull-out rack system back there. It'd be kinda cool to have a pre-cut tray for various tools, or a long single rack for a gun.

I'm on the same boat. Baby seat and all.. took the whole back out to find that ot was too shallow to do anything..especially with the car seat..

I am going to go with an overhead console hanging vertically and maybe seat covers with pockets to use that space. The shelf will hold a fridge great, or an aluminum lock box. Plenty of hard lash down points.

Very Smart. Great use of the upper-flat-platform, and the uneven body metal below. makes sense.

Thanks. I don't take anyone in the back when off roading so I wanted a safe place to store tools tow gear and things. Tons of room I am very happy with it.

I think it's just the seat cover stitching that's weak - everything else about their stuff is pretty bullet proof. I just like the thought of compartments and pockets rather than rummaging around in a bin, but I have to admit that HBTaco02's built in deal with the locking lids is EFFIN SWEET.

I just welded some square tubing and covered it with marine plywood and indoor outdoor carpet. Tha hatches are marine storage covers from a boat hardware supply shop.

I can see screwing it to the back wall there somehow - not a difficult problem to overcome.
