I am sitting next to my truck as we speak in need of a little help. I went to do a standard throttle body/MAF cleaning and found that the butterfly valve in the throttle body is not fully returning to its upright position. Is this normal? its angled backwards only a few degrees as shown in the pictures below. Any input would be great. Thanks!

That's normal, it will be open a little bit. Clean it good and make sure it's really dry.

Pretty sure that's normal, but I'm not a mechanic. I know that fat hose that plugs in near it and runs along the intake towards the fusebox is the idle air control circuit, but I assume the butterfly would need to be open a hair or the engine wouldn't run.

Yes it is normal, the engine needs a little air in order to run.

And after cleaning, expect the idle to be high for a few restarts. The ECU has learned the idle trims with the gunk around the butterfly, so now it's as if your foot is resting on the gas a bit.

    Uhh... throttle body cleaner.

Seriously. CRC makes a spray that is intended for TBI units.

Some people get away with using Seafoam's "Deep Creep" sprayed onto a rag, but it's not the best product. CRC makes quick work of it.

Nahh... it was a legit question.
TB cleaner has been around for 10 or 20 years, but I had never heard of it until 10 years ago when it was recommended that I clean the TB on my Tundra.
