I have a dilemma on my hands, (first world problems lol) I have had my 06 dcsb BSP Tacoma for 3 years now, bought it with 42,000 miles. it now has 90,800 miles. I have done some stuff to change it color match bumper and grill nfabs, satoshi, ect, my biggest mod being dakars and billies out back with 885x's and billies up front (I attached a picture of my truck as it sits). long story short I still owe 3 years on it and I have an opportunity to buy a brand new 2013 TRD Sport MGM access cab and keep my payment the same. Opinions welcome! And GOO!

2004 F-350...uh lots of motor work to go fast...er. Way to much to list. 2001: 3" leveling kit, ARB bumper, lightforce 240 blitz, 35" KM2s. SOLD 2008: OME 886s 90000 with dakars, LR UCAs, 5% tint, Satashi. SOLD 2015: Flooded and Gone
do you like the the dbl cab verses the access? do you use the dbl enough for it to matter? if not much use for the dbl cab then go for it. if anything i'm sure you could always trade it in for the dbl cab..

Stick with d cab if its holding up and no structural rust. Unless you have to have dat skewp and owe monies more in the long run.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Keep your truck, pay it off and be happy. You'll have to pay sales tax on the new truck plus you've pretty much only been paying interest on your truck until now. It's not as good a deal as it seems.

    Too few to list.
New is almost always more attractive. It all depends if you want to start over with your payments. 3 more years vs 5 or 6 years. Just make sure you get a good deal if going new.

Your payment will be the same……for the next 6+ years instead of the 3 you have left now.

Loving the opinions. the truck is solid for being a "north east" truck . frame is solid other than normal scale rust. I do use the double cab prob more than I realize. this all started because I had to take the wifes corolla in for an oil change today. damn stealerships lol. they know how to get me lol.

There really is no benefit to go newer. Your truck already has the mods, more room, and can do whatever the new one can. That newness will wear off and you are stuck with extended payments. Although, your BSP color is fugly!

I had the exact opportunity you did..Sold my 08 with 110xxx miles bought it last year with 90k..Did a crap ton of work also. Had a guy offer me more than I paid originally and I owed 4500 but, my interest was roughly 4%. Which isn't bad..Had a friend who bought a 13' and fell in love with the idea of having a brand spankin' new taco. Long story short I took the offer and put it down on a new one with a 1.9% interest rate with a payment almost the same and my insurance was actually the same. Im still very happy with my decision of being in a new truck no one has owned. Its all about what you want tho..Thats just my personal opinion and personal circumstance.

I like the truck you have. If it's in good shape I'd keep it...

Others have already said it so I'm just reinforcing their opinions.

Customers buying based on payment is a good way for dealerships to increase unit profit. While your payment may be the same, the payment duration (term) is extended. Your overall debt would be higher. I'm guessing your plates and insurance will be higher. Do you pay sales tax on the value on the new truck when buying (even if offset with the trade in)? Will you need to spend money to modify the new truck to your liking? Do you or can you realistically move to an access cab from a double cab?

I'm a sucker for that new car smell myself and have shopped a few time since I've bought my current ride. So, I know where you're coming from...

If you had 2 years or less I'd say keep the one you have... But at three years it'd probably be worth it to me to trade it in for the new one. If it's a 60 month loan on the new one you're really just adding 2 years of payments to reset your clock from 90k miles to zero.

This is what I think as well. I had my old 01 paid off and it was beyond nice not having any payments. Think of it this way, if you've put 3 years of payments into what you have now that's money you'll never get back and basically wasted if you get rid of it.

Did the the stealership see your truck? They want it, to turn around and sell for a profit, then make another profit on the new one they sell you. It's a business. Your truck is bad ass and 90k miles isn't jack. Plus, You already know your truck inside and out. If your bored with it, get some new wheels, put a new stereo in it, add a topper.

I love my truck and the car I traded it or would have been paid off almost two years ago and I still sometimes kinda regret making the trade cause I could have owned my car and be payment free all this time now.

My tacoma will be paid off at the end of 2015 and rust assured I will drive that thing until it falls about 90,000 miles 290,000 miles don't care! I've seem plenty of Toyota make it past the 200,000 mark with plenty of life left in it!

    KEEP YOUR TRUCK!

Your probably losing more then you think based on the info giving. At your numbers you'll be paid off on a 11 year old truck with 140k. I'd say now your truck is worth on the low end 16k and a left over 13 access for 26k? Same payment on 10k, unless you f'd yo credit up or got a hell of deal on your 06, no deal. Your always losing due to interest and taxes in the long run, so if you do want a new one, do your homework so you don't lose as much.

Just curious how this went down? Did the salesmen approach you? Did you buy your current taco there? Did they know you were coming in?

I ask because when i had my pontiac i received free oil change coupons in the mail. Take the car in for a free oil change and see a big sign in the service area "we are looking to expand our used car inventory with the following cars - g6-silverado-impala...." i had a g6 and the people waiting had a silverado and impala. The dealers try anything to get you to sign.

As far as your question, do what you want. Its always nice jumping into a new ride as long as you can deal with several more years of payments.

Keep it! It's just now broken in and modded the way you like it. If you feel an itch for something new just buy something else for it. :)

You just made your decision.....going to an access cab would be a downgrade in space!
