Headlight surround and reflector bowl have been painted black!
Shrouds and turn signal reflector are still being decided...

Hey guys, my group buy FX-R projectors will be here in a few days and the project will begin. I have a few questions to ask you pertaining to the retrofit paint and what you think. Click a button above!

Here is the truck they will be on: (the emblem is back to chrome, and remember the foglights will remain chrome- factor that into your decision)

You should go chrome on the headlight surround and the shroud, and black the reflector. It'll help with any possible stray light(though you shouldn't have any) and the chrome against black will look nice.

I think the "Black headlight surround, Reflector and Shroud" would be perfect.

got any brighter pictures that show the color better?

I don't think I have enough body color paint left to do more than the shrouds sadly :(

All chrome looked good on my last car, but the tacoma seems to be a black and green type of truck, which is why I ditched the chrome grille too.

I voted color match the shroud but I don't know how well it will show up in spruce mica. I have mine the bowl and bezels are black and the shrouds are silver matched. It pops out real nice and I like the contrast.

I think it all depends on the look are you going for (rugged/clean/mean/etc).

Also, are you keeping stock wheels or getting aftermarket? If aftermarket, what color/style?

I had the exact same debate before I did mine. I've seen them in pretty much all variations and am 110% glad I went with BHLM and chrome everything else. I love the look it gives on my white DCSB.

This gets my vote as well. I love the "OEM" look... The biggest battle you will face is keeping the chrome from getting dinged or damaged during cutting/mounting. Also some people don't like the seeing the back of the projector/shroud in the reflection of the chrome bowl.

ugh, I need to learn to use photoshop hahaha.

My other car is all chrome, but I don't like the chrome on the tacoma, but don't know if I will like black either

That's what I'm doing. Did you clear the MGM? Also, do you regret not leaving DTRL chrome or is light output ok? Putting in switchback led's and debating that option.

I am pondering what body color shrouds would look like..

Also trying to get my reflectors off...trying not to brake the little ball socket...

Got it finally, needed a little tiny pick to get in there and pop it off the socket

No clear since it is enclosed. I don't regret the DTRL housing being painted. It still shines bright since they are so damn bright stock.

No, you just undo the 2 bolts from the back, push in on the tabs for the ball socket and pop it off.

    Mine came out wonderful

Sorry for the late response I'm working nights right now. Exactly what Peter said is correct.
