adaptor kits are plugs with loose wires. you must connect the loose wires of the adaptor plug to the loose wires of your stereo's plugs to make up the connections. the adaptor kit should have directions on which wires to connect. plug the adaptor plug to you factory wiring and the stereo plug to your stereo. turn on the key, pray you don't see sparks or smell smoke, then crank it up. butt crimp connectors are quick and easy. solder if you feel like going the extra mile. don't use twist nuts, or twist + electrical tape - it will come loose after time and you will start wondering why your radio fuse keeps blowing.

there's a rare chance you will find pre-terminated adaptor kits for your specific stereo make (alpine, sony, pioneer, etc.) but there's sufficient variation in plugs on the aftermarket manufacturer's side that you will have difficulty finding the exact match for your stereo.
