Hey all, sold my truck in May. Bought a 2013 Avalanche.
My Taco was awesome. But I had put 105,000 miles on it. And needed new tires and brakes. So instead of keeping it I traded in.

Went for the Avalanche mostly because I'm a bodybuilder and really love the bigger seats and interior. Also gets better gas mileage than the taco.

I honestly regretted it as soon as I drove off the lot. It was great all summer but now that its hunting season I really miss having the indestructible Taco to bomb off road to those deep in hunting spots! No way the Avy goes down narrow mud trails. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1384916372.485615.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1384916402.686416.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1384916422.821478.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1384916464.667649.jpg

Also found out there's a mini me on the way and would love to go back to not having this FAT payment every month!

I am really really thinking about paying extra and being broke the next 6 months to get out from under my Avy and jump back in an used FJ possibly or DCSB 4x4 Taco!

I know I'll get biased answers but anybody else sell the Taco and regret it?

I was attached to my taco because I did all the mods my self and went on some crazy adventures I don't think any other truck would make it through!

You needed tires and brakes... so you traded in your vehicle

Thats like saying you ran out of gas so you traded in for a new one with a full tank...

Was at 104k and needed tires and brakes. I was going to 6" it and buy rims, tires, and lift. But decided at 104k I was better off putting the money towards another vehicle.

Should have bought a new 4x4 DCSB Taco.

So you bought an avalcnche because you needed brakes and tires? And Noe you want to get another tascoma? This about the stupidest thing I have ever read. You should have bought a tundra at least but now you may enjoy the pos avalanche.

Hey you can say what you want the Avalanche is a badass machine.

Only negatives are price and that it isn't tiny enough to get in to some of the spots the Taco did.

Well, time will tell. If you end up missing it too much, you can always move into another taco down the road.

I traded mine in in october for something a little more friendly to my 146 mile a day round trip for work, and with a better back seat for the kiddo... Almost immediately regretted it. Less than a month later I passed the 2013 Maxima on to my wife and bought my 2014 DCSB Tacoma. I'm keeping this thing until it's dead. I looked at other trucks (including the avalanche, we had an '05 once upon a time and loved it!) but you hit the nail right on the head when you said the avalanche won't go where the Tacoma will, too "fat" and too much plastic to rip off. Same goes for most other trucks out there these days.

I haven't sold my tacoma but I understand the feeling of being in a vehicle I'm unhappy with and still paying for it. I'll never fall into that trap again. I had 325i bimmer before my tacoma and wasn't happy with it when I got it, not to say it wasn't a bad vehicle but it just wasn't my cup of tea at all. I cared less to maintain it and fix the small problems it had, so I jumped into a taco and I'll be broke for a few more months but, it's worth it to drive something I love everyday :)

There is absolutely nothing even remotely "bad-ass" about an Avalanche.

    Nothing.

    Nada.

    Zip.

    Zero.

Not going to get into a pissing match but here's a few key points on why I bought it.
I still love the Taco's and will probably end up with another (Hoping the wife will drive one)
    Why I went with it-
    Avalanche
6 speed auto tranny =23 highway mpg
Huge tow capacity+ integrated trailer brake
    Real Differential lockers
4 wheel coils with air ride
    Storage panels in truck bed
    Folding midgate for bed access.
And for a 250lb bodybuilder, it is nice to have giant heated/cooled leather seats I don't have to squeeze in.

    Tacoma-
    Bulletproof motor and tranny
Size allowed access through tight spots
    Tons of aftermarket
Doesn't take many mods to go very deep in the woods

bought a Tundra CM, dont miss the taco since I got its older brother. It's basically a big Tacoma... with testicles, and a shlong like a dinosaur...

I'm hoping the Colorado at least causes Toyota to feel threatened and offer deals on Tacomas.

The avalanche sucks lol I mean it is just a suburban with a bed that's all. Oh and the Tacoma is a much better truck that's why they still produce it.

I'd agree that the older avalanches suck, but there is a reason the newer style ones go for 35k+ used... It's an escalade ESV with a Chevy emblem. Nice truck, if you don't really want a truck...

What kinda gas mileage does the avalanche get? My Tacoma gets 20+ all day everyday. My damn Z71's would never do better then 17.

My Taco was a 2008 4x4 DCLB with 2.5" and 265/75/16 lifetime averages was 16mpg

Avalanche has averaged 18.7 since May.

On long trips I will get between 20-23 if I don't go over 75.

I had a 94 Pickup for ten years then got a job with a long commute and sold it for a subaru forester. I had that for a year and a half. It was a great car, but just missed having a truck so traded it in for a 2010 dclb. Last year I moved and had an even longer commute so I traded in the tacoma for an subaru impreza. Again, great car, great gas mileage, etc. Nevertheless, someting felt weird about not having a toyota pickup truck, so I traded it in and now ride a 2014 dcsb. It's weird how these trucks get into your blood.
