I've got 15,000 to spend and I'm looking at 2003 or 2004 Tacoma Prerunner under 100,000 miles(which I've found plenty in my area. My father in law keeps trying to tell me there to old and to get a 2007 frontier with 60,000 miles or so! What do you all think? Will I be happy with my Taco even thou it's 10 years old? And should I go with the 2003 or 2004?

That price seems HIGH for 2003-4.
Always have it checked by someone who knows about autos.
For that much $$$-Get a 4X4--you will be glad you did.

Which ever one best suits your financial state. More info on each vehicle would help as well. Also, there are no difference between the 2003 & 2004 other than the year.

regardless how long these Toyotas last, I would find it hard to spend 15 grand on one with a hundred thousand miles especially that old.

    Taco
I bought a brand new Frontier in 2006 and regretted it since I've always wanted a Tacoma.
I don't have the Frontier anymore and I have a Tacoma now and I love my Tacoma every day I own it.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Heres a nice little truck in upstate new York that may be worth looking at. Don't know the seller or condition of the frame.

I can only afford to spend 15,000 and I live in California and for that price range I can only find 2002-2003-2004 with 70-99,000 miles on them, everyone tells me it's a bad investment cause it's old and a lot of miles but I want a tacoma!! Am I making the right decision spending that much on an older truck?

I was in the same position as you...I wanted a used Taco but these things hold their value so well they are super high priced as used and even with over 50,000 miles on them. I ended up buying a new one and financed it. If you have $15,000 to spend and have good credit you can get low financing and will maybe be able to get a new one. A truck with 80,000 miles is way too high even if it's a taco. And since you live in Azusa you may want to get a 4x4 because of the mountains you live next to. I thought I was gonna get a PreRunner but I'm so glad i got a 4x4

Personally I would go for a 2nd gen 4x4. Buy used and finance a little.

My advice is take your time looking for that perfect Tacoma and keep saving and saving till you find it... I found my 06 Doublecab with 75,000 miles for $18,500 a few years ago...

You're going to own this truck for years and years, in my opinion it's worth waiting a few months till the right one comes on the market

I would buy what you want. In my past experience if I settle I'm always wishing I had gotten the one I wanted from the start.

When buying used be sure to Make sure to find out all you can about the trucks history. It may not be as common in CA but many of that generation of trucks had frame rust problems with some resulting in failure. Toyota did have a major recall and it's possible that the truck could have had its frame replaced under warranty. To me this would be a good thing. If the frame looks bad keep shopping. Good luck

CA prices are much higher than here in the east. Checked auto trader-It would be beneficial to go out of state.
    Could save a couple GRAND,
