Hahaha MTs are terrible in any type of snow but dry fluffy powder. If you're concerned about winter traction duratracs are superior. If you want to rock crawl, go mudding , or generally abuse your tires get MTs.

The DuraTracs are relentless in the snow. We'll see how they do once the sipes disappear.

i have to disagree with the snow part.... ask beavis multidek and any iof the guys that went on the NWWA meet to the forest roads where we climbed a mountain on snowcovered roads, my tires where the cleanest best tracking tires out there (said by two people with duratracs) but hey you are entitled

There's no question that the MT's are very good in packable snow that lets their deep tread/lugs grab hold. I have KM2's on my 4Runner and love them but there is no comparison to the performance of the DuraTracs once you get onto hard pack. That's why a lot of folks with the KM2's get them siped for better winter performance on roads. They (MT's in general) SUCK on hard pack or on slippery roads without siping. Its not me, it's not an opinion.... it's just the way it is.

I would agree in part but every time you want to get on a snow covered road you don't want to air down. Running constant pressure, the duratracs over the MT's but I have seen some vids from spoonman that were impressive with aired down MT's

    Agreed with jdkilroy ^

like i said i think duratracs are great tires compared to like a maxxis bighorn or whatever, i guess it just all, depends on what type of application you need them for..

My Hankook MT's actually cleared our wet coastal snow better than my Hankook ATm's

I do. Harsher ride yes. I run them because I've had three friends cut down lighter tires on gravel roads during fishing/hunting season.

What's the weight on those ATM's? In your 275/70? I can't seem to find the answer.

    Just starting...
    X2

They suggested a C rated tire, but I couldn't figure out why I would want 6 plys instead of 10.

This weekend, with rocks coming down onto the trail too close to go around them, I was glad I went with the stronger tires. Up and over.

I like the tread pattern on the ATM's. Remind me of a set of arctic max snow tires I ran on my VW. Things kicked ass!

    Anyone know if the duratracs come in a E in a 285/7017"? I didn't see if so. The D is 500 lbs. +/- from the E in a 285/75/16.
    Same weight/tire

Thats no longer true. Well, it's not sidewall plies either. Maybe a ply "rating" equivalent, but that doesn't mean you get 10 ply with load e tires. I have Duratracs in load e with 6 ply tread and 2 ply sidewall.
It's more of a max psi rating.

3" lift EIBACH coils w/ 5100's front, OME/ Dakar leaf springs w/ toytec adjustable shackles at 1.5" and 5125's out back. 33x10.5x15 KM2's Relentless DIY steel bumper.
I ran E rated cooper disco ST's. Very stiff tire but I liked it. My new tire is a C rated km2 33x10.5x15. I never saw sidewall flex on the coopers. With these km2's just cold weather will cause the sidewall to flex a little. The E's were too much for me but I also needed a MT so the km2's in a C are perfect for me now . Also, gas mileage stayed the same between the 2 tires
