'05 Frame Rust

Ok guys already posted once but here are some pictures. This doesn't look normal to me... Let me know your thoughts...

 

What was your first clue that it didn't look normal?

 

I'm not trying to sound completely ignorant on the issue but I am far from a mechanic. There aren't any holes that go through the frame but it's far from showroom condition...

Thats a section where the paint has bubbled out and cracked. It's not completely broken through yet

 

looks like mine, it is a 2005 as well, I went to the dealership and ranted for a little bit, they have set up a claim with corporate if I remember correctly, I'm hoping that they will actually do something about it, I would bring yours to the dealer with a lot of pictures and see if they can do something for you

 

I just sent an email to the customer service for Toyota USA... I also ranted on there about them denying my claim for the suspension and tailgate TSBs.

 

I'd go and annoy someone at a dealership so that it comes from multiple sources

 

I will probably do that. How long have you been working on getting yours taken care of?

 

a month maybe, I'm gonna go back to the dealership when I get home and see how it is going (aka: if they have heard anything)

I am also thinking about posting pictures on the toyota USA facebook, make a problem public and they may try to fix it faster

 

Haha, I've already started thinking about facebook, twitter and every other avenue I could think of to make it an issue they can't ignore.

 

Your frames do look bad but from what i've seen here over the years they need to get alot worse before they'll do anything. Once they can put a hole though the rust with the hammer you might have a valid claim. Right now they'll more than likely say it's surface rust and send you on your way. I'd let it run it's coarse, don't cover it up with anything, and hold out for a new frame.

 

That's just ridiculous... You shouldn't wait until it is structurally unsound before taking action to correct it. I'm really starting to get disappointed in this truck that I fell in love with...
